This former Karaoke shop opened up as the second Ombu location down in the south valley just a block away from another KBBQ joint that opened few months before them. However, in comparison of the two, they were day and night from each other. I guess depending on your taste preference, you do get quite a bit more here, it's AYCE, so everything comes down to the quality. Their meat quality is rather bad, any meat connoisseurs should be able to tell they used cheaper cuts here. There were sad attempts to use marinating sauces to cover up the lackluster quality. The waitresses here were a bit rude, I guess your typical Asian restaurant style of services. She literally just drop the plate on the table even though there was not enough room. Even just a comparison within the Ombu brands, the downtown Ombu Grill was in much better shape than this location. If you are looking for KBBQ, there are two other much better choices in the south valley.

This is our go to spot. Our favorite is the thinly sliced brisket. But all the food is delicious. We order the salmon fried rice with everything. The bibimbap goes well with everything too. We prefer the red sauce on the side. It can get pretty crowded on Sundays but the food still comes out quick. The waitresses and waiters handle the busy time well. Try the dipping sauces. Yake is super kind and takes care of customers so well. Thank you for your business Ombu Grill Midvale

Went to the Murray location and ordered some of the fried chicken thighs appetizer for our children and it came out raw. When we pointed it out to our server she took it back to the kitchen but then had the nerve to tell us it wasn’t raw and it was just sauce. There was no sauce anywhere on that dish. In addition they have terrible slow service and mediocre quality food. Don’t eat at the Murray location!

Finally got together with co-workers after a year of not being able to do so. Ombu Grill was fantastic! Food was excellent ! Staff was wonderful!! Best night out after a long quarantine!! We will definitely go back in the near future.

Good food and prices, but terrible service. Need to hire more employees and ALWAYS have a host up front.

Great experience, all you can eat for a good price. Servers were very attentive and the food was terrific. We had a blast there.

Fun place for my Asian food loving family. Love Korean BBQ. The Kimchi was fantastic. I had seen a Anthony Bourdain episode where he ate Takoyaki or fried Octopus balls. They had them here at Ombu. They were delicious. Wish I would have a had a second order.

2.5 Stars. Customer service is a huge disappointment. If you are feeling ravenous as well, I do not recommend coming here. The food is good, but they take so long to serve it. Although the waitresses are nice, they will neglect you unless they feel like we need something. They aren't as attentive as well. One of the waitresses forgot the tea until we reminded her. They never refill the water or checked up on us. There were 3-4 group of people, but it's like they're unbothered to do their job. Left a 15% tip, but won't be coming back again.

We decided to eat here due to the recommendation of a family member. We were a little reluctant due to the 2.5 stars here on Yelp but they insisted we would love it. We have never eaten in a place like this and thought the waitress would maybe explain it for us. We were wrong. We asked questions and all she would do is point us to the menu. She did speak English so that was not the issue. We had to figure it out by watching people around us. We also saw food come out that was NOT on the menu and we would not have know. To ask for... because we had never been here or anything like it. THE FOOD IS GOOD. I will say I give 4 stars for the food but THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. It was extremely busy and they are severely understaffed. We will try other places moving forward. If you are familiar with this kind of place, you should be good to go here and if not... try somewhere else. We left with full bellies but won't be running back!

Beautiful new restaurant, large, well spaced and clean meeting all Covid concerns. Marble top tables with built in grills and exhaust fans that come down to insure no smoke and help to provide that clean atmosphere. Good service and priced very fairly. You get to choose from multiple items including vegetables, various meats and fish that you grill yourself and you can have as much as you want of any of the items on the menu.

I really hate writing low-star reviews, especially when the waitress was SO nice, she's the only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one. However we had a reservation and still had to wait a long time. It was a Friday night and it was BUSY. A little scary how many people they packed into this tiny restaurant with no 6-ft social distancing or having anyone sanitize their hands. When we were seated, we waited almost 30 minutes before someone noticed that we haven't ordered anything yet. Our grill started smoking (nothing was on it yet) and I asked if that was normal because there was some leftover oil/grease drippings on the inside of the grill. The lady who came to our table said that "it's a grill, not gas"... Like obviously I know it's a grill, I'm not an idiot. The food was subpar... We never got all we ordered, service was very slow. It seemed like they might have been understaffed. Honestly, this experience was to the point where we weren't even enjoying our dinner anymore. I really paid over $100 (including 20% tip) for a place that I won't be returning to. I'm not really impressed with the Ombu establishments in Utah. I would have rather taken my money to KOU down the street. The parking is also a nightmare. We had to park across the street and run over to the restaurant. State Street is a busy road too, so that wasn't fun or safe. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here, take your business elsewhere and safe yourself the trouble and money.

Me and my friend really enjoyed the food here. I have never been to any of the ombu locations however my friend said this locations was way better quality than the 1300 south location. I would have given a better rating had the service been better
