In the past Tepanyaki would get 4 stars from me, but it's fallen downhill a lot. Here's what I liked - quality of the food is solid (though overpriced). Cooked right in front of you is also always great. The menu also has a huge variety if you prefer sushi or anything else. Here's what they need to work on - it's really hit or miss with the chef. We came right after opening and our chef felt like he'd rather be anywhere but there. Lack of enthusiasm, didn't really talk to us, messed up on some simple tricks. It was clear he would never get hired by Benihana, haha. Also the price of the food has gotten really high for what's offered. $30-50 per person isn't worth the lacking experience. Also they had a wet mop smell in the restaurant that was hard to look past. The bathrooms, and hall leading to them, had a strong sewage smell. Would be hard to impress a date here anymore.

Nice place really yummy food. Most selections are from $25-35 and include rice, soup and salad. Show is great. Only 8 people to a table.

Amazing and attentive personal. Food is amazing and the whole experience there was out of this world. The person cooking was the best and so fun and experienced. The place looks cozy and well kept.

Tepanyaki at University Mall Orem is a fun evening as your chef entertains at your table surrounding the hibachi style grill. Each grill seats 8, so you do share your table with others, if they stick around. A of couple of college-age girls sat with us, but mysteriously disappeared after ordering their meal. Dinner includes soup, salad, entree and noodles/fried rice/or steamed rice. You can order an combination of protein entrees: steak, chicken, salmon, shrimp, lobster. I had the filet mignon medium rare, and it melts in your mouth. All courses were very flavorful and delicious. Be careful when paying; an 18% tip is mandatory and included in your total, however, they also include tipping options on your credit card slip. This is deceptive, and causes many patrons to double-tip. But other patrons may want to tip beyond the 18%; just be aware.

This was the best dining experience I've had in a long time. We were sat immediately, drink orders were blindingly quick, the dinner entertainment was top notch, the food tasted incredible (especially the sushi and steak) and the staff was attentive, friendly, thoughtful and helpful. Worth every penny!

Always a family favorite for birthdays or anniversary. This new location by the mall felt more noisy but it was packed. Good experience.

Very average. I wished my hibachi chicken meal was better. The quality of food wasn't really worth the price.

It really is good food having a show is a plus. Only downside is the wait and with that the waiter is going to be really busy. This is not a shot at them but just letting you know it can definitely be a wait for you seat, check, drink and so on. But it will be worth every second you wait.

The food is good, and it is really fun. The biggest complaint I have is their menu. It is all online which is fine, however they don't post the prices online at all. This is my opinion is quite unethical especially when the price of items jumps up well more then is accounted for with inflation in just a few months. Will consider other options in the future.

I used to love Tepanyaki but the food quality has gone down and the prices just keep going up. Also, the chefs at this location are all low energy except one (I think his name is Iyung). I can't justify the cost anymore, it is no longer worth it. Really sad to see how downhill they have gone. If you do go, plan on spending $50+ per person after tip.
