The yurt has always been charming but the new ordering process is offensive: no matter what you order, you are verbally asked to tip. Why am I being asked to tip to pick up a cookie from a basket and serve my own coffee? And when I said no, the smile vanished and I felt like a jerk. And no thank you. We shouldn't be put in this position as customers.

Sometimes, the occasion is so special that you need it to not just be AMAZING food, but you also need it to be "AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE". When you are looking for something like this, I cannot recommend THE VIKING YURT highly enough. It is PERFECT!!! The new owner has gone all out to make this an experience that you will remember....and tell all of your friends and family about...for years to come!! Starting with a snowcat-pulled sleigh ride up 1,800 vertical feet with INCREDIBLE views of the Park City Ski Resort along the way. Then....when you get there, the food is TOP RATE (an elegant 6-course meal)...but the EXPERIENCE is EVEN BETTER!! Get ready for a 4 hour dinner "experience". You will LOVE it!! When you want the night to be MORE than special, book your dinner at the Viking Yurt!!

Fabulous adventure!! Make your ascent up the mountain in a sled and enter a magical yurt filled with delicious smells and friendly folks! The signature menu starts with a mug of Glogg and on to a 6 course tantalizing Norwegian meal! What an adventure!!

This place is so cool with beautiful views of the frosted mountain tops. They could serve hot purn juice for all I care. The ambiance is that good. Fortunately, they actually have quite a decent menu. Fancy grilled cheese, hot fresh tomato soup, and a few other options. They even have a great selection of spirits and beers. Also, the cookies are amazing. I'd suggest ordering everything viking style. Cheers! See you at the top

My opinion is that the website and booking process needs to be updated - it looks like a website that one of my kids made in 6th grade.. When I emailed to ask a question about booking a large group I received a terse almost rude email response which worried me greatly about even booking. The sleigh ride is gimmicky albeit fun. The food was basic. The ambience and yurt need to be updated to 2024 expectations of Park City guests. I suspect they dont have a lot of repeat guests but would if they stepped up their game as its a great concept - just poor execution!

So nice! Had a glass of chard on the mountain. Utah requires you eat while drinking so had an incredible chocolate chip cookie to go with it! Highly recommend!

Always worth a stop. Super friendly staff, great food. Highly recommend the Tomato Curry Coconut soup and baguette. If you have time - get a few ciders.

What an amazing experience! Not only was the ride up in the sled spectacular the food was even more fabulous. I ❤️ this place!

My wife and dined at the Yurt last night and it was a wonderful experience. Key thing here is to consider this as an experience and not just as dinner. Diners meet in the main village and are greeted by staff who get diners setup with snowshoes for the short hike up to the Yurt (if you have winter boots, you don't need to put on the snowshoes). After a beautiful hike up to the Yurt (which sits next to the Sunrise chair lift), you enter the Yurt and are greeted by one of the servers who will find a spot for you at one of the tables. So things to remember - you have to hike for your food and the seating is "family-style" so you'll get out of the experience what you put into it. Oh, and there is no running water, so restrooms are porta-potties and a wash-basin. Chef Ben introduced the five courses beforehand and the dishes were served quickly and efficiently by Alyssa and Nicole. We love to eat and both thoroughly enjoyed all of the courses. The green bean salad and butternut squash soup with duck confit and morrell mushrooms were highlights. In closing, this isn't for everyone, and is expensive when viewed through the lens of "just dinner". But we enjoyed the conversation with other diners and walking back to the village after dinner down the ski hill was about as special as it gets.
