My husband and I visited this weekend while we were down in Provo. This was our first time visiting. We really enjoyed to food we ordered, but the service was rushed and it was a long wait.We ordered the Calamari as an appetizer. The Calamari was alright, and we ordered 5 sushi rolls. All which were delicious! We ordered the Rock Shrimp, BSCR, Big Sumo, and the Baked Lobster roll. My husband’s favorite was the Rock Shrimp and mine was the BSCR. We look forward to trying it again soon!

Happy Sumo has my whole heart!!! We always get quick and kind service from any server. Plus the food—sushi or typical entree—is delicious every single time!
Great, as always. We have been coming here for years. Sushi is fresh, Lettuce wraps yum, all the food we get is so good. My favorite place to eat in Utah.

One of my favorite places! The food always comes out quick & fresh, the service is always 10/10 from every waiter/waitress I have ever had, and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Even on a busy night, the work quickly to get you in and still provide you with the best service and food.

Great experience. Staff was very friendly. Amber went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of. SO much flavor in the sushi. Probably the best in the valley. Amen.
The sushi wasn’t that great, specifically the rolls. Sashimi was ok, disappointed by the salmon and tuna, and the escolar which is my favorite was stringy for some reason. Hopefully the waitress has a better night as well.

So sad use to love this place. But this is the last time we will come. Food was barely warm, the rice was not not cooked. I mean how hard is it to get the rice right. The tempura vegetable's where onion and carrots thats it, soggy and almost warm. When we told the waitress she said she would get the manager but never came back, saw her in the corner hiding till we left. Save yourself and go someplace else the Happy Sumo is now the Sad Sumo. Place is also kind of dirty, floors looked like they had not been sweep in days.

Honestly, I felt like the Happy Sumo was a let down. The atmosphere was fun, and the location seemed great for a nicer sushi restaurant. However, the service wasn't the best, our waitress wasn't very attentive and the food wasn't as good as I had hoped. Maybe this was just an off day and my experience was not typical, but I can only speak on my own time there.

My husband and I are both sushi fanatics and have been trying sushi all over the states, from Hawaii to Charleston and other places in between. Happy Sumo is definitely on the top of the list when it comes to specialty rolls. There is a lot of variety, all good sized and fresh. The flavor has been full of flavor and we love experimenting all of the rolls in our menu. They also keep coming out with new ones to try.The appetizers have all been pretty fresh and cooked well. The tempera is crispy and comes out hot.I have to make a point and say their entries are subpar to the sushi. I wouldn't recommend coming just for entries. We've come back here again and again and never left feeling dissatisfied or disappointed.
