Been looking at this place for a while and decided to finally give it a shot. The quick and dirty: over priced and subpar food. Not sure how the menu is supposed to be designed but it's all over the place.I ordered the Steak Frites for 35$ and it shouldn't have been more than 20 for what I received. A few drinks and two steaks brought us well over 200$ for something that should have cost about 100$. Been saying this for a while now. Salt Lake food is over priced for absolutely no reason. I wouldn't recommend this place until they fix their prices or fix their quality...Not worth the price

This restaurant is near my home in the Avenues and a place we want to support but I cannot. It is the only establishment I know of that has the greeter at the front door take your ID and disappear into the back to verify your legal age, out of sight and then return a few minutes later. We have all been victims of fraud too many times to allow this practice. I still do not know why they feel they need to do this. Also, they do not use a contactless payment device such as Toast. It is well known that physical contact credit card swiping systems spread germs and viruses. Someone sneezes on their card, hands it to the waiter who swipes it thru the device. A few minutes later the waiter repeats this process now spreading germs to the new card. Great process! Did Covid never happen? Come on.

It was so good, I never leave reviews but felt like I needed to here. Never thought I would like a kale salad but it was fantastic. Definitely will be going back and highly recommend.

Why would you pickle grapes and serve it as "seasonal pickled vegetables"

Was excited about trying this place for dinner after having a decent brunch here but the food was horrible. My food (Gnocchi) was so salty I couldn’t eat it and my friend’s food (Sun-dried Fettuccine) had way too much garlic. The server did not ask how our food was, offer to comp anything, or inquire about why we both only ate a bite or two of our food and didn’t ask for to-go boxes for our $50 meals. Mediocre food and mediocre service!

While this place is nice, the food is mediocre. My pasta came out all clumped together tossed in the sauce. The flavor was not desirable and I didn’t finish my food. I will say the lemon ricotta was great. The waitress did make it a point to come over and say she only make $2.50 an hour and that she relies on tip. I would say pick another place to eat. Avenues proper either pay your staff more or teach them some manners. Tip is dependent on how much the customer wants to leave not what your waitress is wanting them to leave.

Went for lunch and had a wonderful experience. Spicy chicken sandwich and Kale salad were delicious. Server Hayden was kind and attentive. Gave great recommendations and service.

Amazing service and such a friendly waiter!! The menu is small and a little limited but the food was still really good with great drink options! Cute little spot to stop at and the vibes are very cozy yet sophisticated!

I ended up getting sick with food poisoning from this location last week. I eat meat once (or less) per week so there's little doubt that I got sick here. Ultimately the reason I'm writing a review is because I called the restaurant twice to talk to a manager and didn't get a call back from anyone. I love Craft by Proper, I love Proper Burger and Proper Brewery is my favorite brewery in SLC. I know how hard it is to recover from low star reviews so here is a 5-star review.

We went last night. We had a reservation. They seemed very understaffed. The folks were nice, but unavaliable. There was a couple next to us with twins. Very cute, we traded out menus for glasses to get some water. The service was extremely slow. I don't believe I have ever left a bad review on here. So bottom of the barrel.

I love this place. Thanks so much for being such a great spot for us to have some dinner/drinks before a show downtown. Jackie is the best manager and thanks again!

This used to be a favorite tucked away in the Aves. The host and service overall was awesome. The cocktails are still fantastic but egregiously overpriced for what they are. The fries are perfect and worth ordering an extra portion. My disappointment came with the ‘chicken' and waffles. What used to be my favorite dish here...a perfectly fried piece of tender chicken breast on a fluffy, crisp waffle... is now a slab of what looked and tasted like frozen chicken fried steak on top of thin, soggy waffles. I ate a few bites then packed it up in a to go container. Nobody at the table was very happy or satisfied with their meal. The quality has diminished significantly since I last ate at Avenues Proper, and unfortunately, there are better places to eat for the price point.
