This has become my favorite cocktail bar. The dim lighting, cushioned and cozy seating areas, and funky decor touches create a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. it was not too loud so it's easy to converse, and the crowd was an eclectic and cool group of 30 and 40 somethings. I had the frosted water lily cocktail and it's the best one I've had in SLC. You can also order food from Laziz!

Za'atar fries pair perfectly with beer.Parking: Edison is more of an alley than a street. Plan on parking elsewhere and walking.Kid-friendliness: It's a bar. 21 and up.

His cocktails were nothing short of spectacular, and his attention to detail and creativity really shone through in each drink. I wanted to love this place and I kind of do but there are some pretty serious issues that simply must be sorted out. We arrived at 5:50 PM and the doors were still locked. According to their website, they are supposed to be open at 5:00 pm. We walked over to Laziz, which does the food for Back Door and inquired what was going on. The Laziz host said they should be open already but that he would go check. He came back saying that they should be open in 10 minutes. Opening an hour after your advertised hours is obviously not great. Our friends weren't able to meet up with us til 6:30 anyway so we chilled in the car until they arrived. We walked into Back Door at 6:30 and were told to sit anywhere we would like. The room is small, but nicely appointed and is a fun, cozy atmosphere with a cool bar. One other couple was seated at the bar. We waited...and waited...and waited. A server finally brought some water. We waited some more. A different server brought a light for our table which was welcome because it was pretty dark and difficult to read the menu. Then we waited some more. And well, you get the idea. It was a good 20 minutes before we were able to put in our drink orders. By the time the drinks came, we were all starting to feel a bit irritable and were discussing where else to find food and more drinks. We were going to order food but service was so slow and neglectful that we left after one round. I had the water lily cocktail which was absolutely delicious and quite impressive. Well balanced, not too sweet and presentation was beautiful. Our friends asked simple questions like, do you have Irish whisky or Sapphire Gin and our server said he had to check. Like, really? Anyway, I imagine the food would have been delicious as well had we gotten the chance to try it but it was quite some time between when our drinks arrived and when they came to take food orders so we just asked for the check. Please fix the service issues. This place has so much potential. We will try again. Fingers crossed that things will improve.
