Phenomenal lunch! The pasta and pizza was so delicious. If you can, I highly recommend sitting in their outdoor seating. They have a gorgeous patio that made for a great experience.

I've visited Trio off and on for twenty years. There are a couple of go-tos that I like on the menu, one of which is the chicken caper salad. Ordered it today and it was nothing like it used to be. I remember chunks of moist chicken, crispy fresh celery, fresh crisp lettuce (not bagged lettuce), and huge caper halves. Today it was okay chicken, sketchy artichoke hearts, ho-hum green lettuce that hadn't been dried and a few little caper berries. What happened? The service, however, was excellent , as was the flatbread.

Pretty sure our server was high or drunk tonight. He smelled bad and he couldn't remember if he had taken our order and forgot to bring back our credit cards after we paid. He seemed to have forgotten about us a couple of times and we had to ask for drink refills and canceled the salad we ordered because he forgot it. Disappointing service. Food was good though.

It's been a Utah minute since my last visit but, now I know why. Honestly ,I am very flexible although having been part of this restaurants inception I am quite saddened. I'm not sure where to start so let's just start with the salad. The Caesar was flavorless, wilted and sad. The best part of the salad was the blush wine I chose to accompany it. The Rosemary flatbread was ok for the most part but, the pizza dough recipe has changed dramatically and now instead of flat bread you received aerated soft dough...yuck! Entrees where again just ok with the spaghetti (over cooked) and meatballs (dry). The burger was also dry and lacking flavor while my go to the Mary's chicken has become a simpler version of its original self drowning in sauce...glug, glug, burp, burp! The atmosphere is next.: the broken window upfront has stood now for over a week and the sun shades are hysterically in shambles. I almost felt obligated to donate money to help fix the rags hanging above my head on the patio. Lastly it seems no one is really in charge with waiters haphazardly doing their jobs, no follow up, no upselling, no passion for a beautiful restaurant that once was. The icing on the cake was eating in darkness before someone decided to turn the outside lights on...David would have died!

After waiting for 10 minutes to be seated, (the place was empty, there was just no staff around, apparently everyone decided to take their lunch at the same time during open hours) I then went on to have truly awful and incompetent service. This place has gone down hill and I likely won't ever be returning.

I'd echo other reviewers here and recommend going for either lunch or dinner, because the breakfast/brunch isn't worth the cost. During my last visit, it took quite some time to get our food (40+ minutes) and we rarely had a server come around to refill our waters. Many of the friends in my group ordered the salmon hash bowl with poached eggs. Every single one of our poached eggs was overcooked (see picture). The potatoes and salmon were average. One bright spot at Cafe Trio is the location and ambiance, but with how many other great spots there are in the valley, I hesitate to recommend this one in particular.

kicking myself for not having more pictures of the delicious food here but this is one of my favorite spots in salt lake! Go to flatbread is the rosemary flatbread, favorite entree is the baked penne, and favorite pizza is the bbq chicken sandwich.

I've been coming here for almost 4 years now and I've never once been disappointed with the food. The service is good and quick and the food is delicious. I've probably tried everything on the menu. The outdoor seating area is also super cute. 10/10 would recommend this place for sure

I honestly don't know how they have such a high rating. Must be a neighborhood nostalgic thing? Or something? Perplexing. I've been a handful of times, each time worse than the last. Today was no exception (I only went because some friends chose it before I could protest) was hoping THIS would be the time I liked it! Yah no. We get sat inside bc it's so hot out. Immediately the restaurant fills with smoke. We assumed someone burned something in the kitchen. They opened the doors and windows but for some reason did NOT turn on their fans??? It became unbearable so everyone inside was asking to move outside. They acted as if everyone was overreacting. Lol. The server said "yah the hood over the grill broke and everyone ordered burgers so yah it's going to be Smokey." He said this lien it was no big. Anyway we move outside which is fine. Everything food wise was meh. Soggy undercooked pizza, hard as rocks meatballs, two decent salads and one grain salad that was the saddest smallest "salad" I've ever seen! My friend described it as "unflavored mush" it was awful. Like something you'd get at a fat camp. The service was great though. But I can't forgive that salad and the bad pizza and the smoke for which there was zero apology or even acknowledgment. I'm done with trio...hopefully for good!

This is my favorite place for brunch!!! I love their brunch so much! Highly recommend! The breakfast potatoes are so good! I usually go with their egg sandwich. It will not disappoint you! They have the best Benedict's too. Brunch prices are so reasonable too. Drinks are great! Presentation is so clean. Service is always phenomenal! Be prepared to wait for a bit on weekends, but I promise it'll be worth it!

I hadn't been to Trio for years because it's kind of it of the way. After going last weekend we will definitely be back. A great variety of food that was all great. Don't sleep on the appetizers here. They were the best part of the meal. We had the red pepper and goat cheese flat bread and also the beet and burrata salad. Both were amazing.

Ordered the chicken dish, and half of it was raw. Waitress was fantastic though! Order was the chicken dish.

My food was cold and extremely bland. The waitress seemed annoyed to be there and she the service was extremely slow. We waited a long time to order and another 45 for it to come out. We had asked her a question and she told us she couldn't talk to us because she was thinking of orders. We also waited for the check to be delivered and taken for probably 35 minutes. Disappointed.

Absolutely love this restaurant. The vibes are immaculate and the staff is always wonderful. Try the chocolate pudding, you'll be so glad you did! One of my favorite spots in the city for a chill dinner with great atmosphere.
