But I've never had Somali food, or any African food, like this, and not in a good way. No variety in flavor, no balance, everything is just sweet: the bread, the pasta, the meat...Plus I found not 1 but 2 human hairs in the food, not my color or texture so definitely not mine, and deeply buried enough that they definitely were introduced before I opened the container, so again, can't be my own. I ended up throwing most of my meal away.I'd give it a 1 but I can't bring myself to rate an African restaurant less than a 2. Take note that this is a 2 with an asterisk.Do yourself a favor and go to Somali Restaurant (Nutrition & Ethnic foods) or Midnimo, or even Noor in the same parking lot if you have the time to wait. Even Horn of Africa, who is out of most of their menu for the foreseeable future, is a better option.Or expand your horizons to Swahili, Ethiopian, or even Afghani or Peruvian food, which share some similarities and have restaurants nearby. I enjoyed Mahider.

My family and I recently had a great meal at this place just before catching our flight back home. It's conveniently close to SLC International Airport, making it a perfect quick stop. The restaurant is in a market area with all kinds of shops around, which is something I've never seen before. The restaurant itself could be improved upon, especially when it comes to seating and getting their menu prices updated. However, despite that, the food and service most definitely delivered. We went for the 4 combo meals ($15 each) - 3 rice dishes and 1 pasta - all of which came with delicious beef suqar and chicken suqar. We also got 6 sambusas, which were stuffed with tasty spiced minced beef and veggies. We ordered 3 of them initially, which we got immediately. After looking at the menu and deciding what to get, we ordered 3 more sambusas. Unfortunately, we did not receive those last 3 (we thought they would be in the smallest container, but instead received extra salad). You could tell the combo meals were freshly made and cooked right when we ordered. The pasta took about 20 minutes, but while waiting, the owner treated us to some of what I believe to be bhajias to snack on while we waited. Overall, the combo meals were a real treat. The portions were so big, we couldn't finish everything. Honestly, I believe one meal could comfortably feed 2 people. The beef and chicken suqoor were juicy and packed with flavor. The veggies were great too, seasoned just right with a nice crunch. My only little complaint was that the pasta dish had a bit too much pasta and not enough sauce. All in all, we had an enjoyable experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in Utah!

This place is highly underrated. The staff was really friendly and kind. The prices are amazing and you get a lot of food. And on TOP OF THAT, the food was AMAZING. I got Ugali with chicken and my bf got Ugali with fish and we absolutely loved it. Coming back again!

My absolute favorite restaurant. I’ve gone here several times and the food never disappoints! The staff is awesome and every time I go in they always strike up a conversation with me and they always recommend something new and delicious for me to try. From the moment you walk in, it’s a bit of a culture shock and it makes the experience so much more authentic. If you are in SLC this is a most have restaurant. We drive 45 minutes to this restaurant because it’s that good.
