I found Gourmandise while searching for a gluten free bakery in downtown Salt Lake City. To my pleasant surprise, they also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although they aren't a dedicated gluten free facility and there is risk of cross contamination, the waitress took the time to confirm that my food choices would not contain gluten, soy, or beef. I had the grilled salmon and it was delicious! The buerre blanc sauce was silky smooth and had just the right blend of flavors. For dessert, there were several gluten free options and I selected the flourless chocolate cake. It was very rich and satisfied my sweet tooth! I'll likely try an additional dessert or two before I leave town. I would definitely eat here again!Dietary restrictions: They have several menus online for dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan). I had many gluten free options from which to choose, although some had a high risk of cross contamination due to the fryer. They also have gluten free bread which can be used for sandwiches. The waitress took my allergies seriously and verified ingredients and cooking procedures with the chef to ensure I had a good experience. She also cautioned me about possible cross contamination from my food being in the same oven with glutinous bread. I appreciated her transparency and effort.

I have been here three times and the only thing that was consistent was the pastries. Their food and coffee/teas are over priced and honestly decent. The food is just not what they’re advertising, and the skills of the “chefs” making the food are just lacking. I would only recommend the desserts, but please save your money and don’t get the food.

Amazing sweet treats

The Monte cristo sandwich was gray, but they were way too tight with their alcohol policy. My brother tried ordering something really light in order to be able to get a margarita, but our waiter insisted you could only do so with a full meal.

Gourmandise is such a great little restaurant in SLC. Great food, great service. It gets a little bit loud in there during the busy hours, but still worth it for the amazing food and pastries.

This is a great place to order cakes and other desserts from! I have never been disappointed nor has there been anything I’ve ordered that I haven’t liked! Their food is also great , and it is priced well too! Have been coming to Gourmandise for years, even back when they had their location in Holladay, and it has always been a great experience!

The good: get the crème broule oatmeal (with the additional berries). Delicious. If you can resist mixing in the whipped cream, it won’t be ? that you just ate dessert for brekki. Five stars for the oatmeal (which is GF BTW) ???????????????The bad: while the GF bread used for the avocado toast was fine, the avocado was a spread of some kind as opposed to be sliced fresh avo. It was also slightly browned so it wasn’t that fresh a taste experience and I only had one of the two slices, opting to have my fill of the oatmeal instead. 2-3 stars for the GF avo toast. ??????Overall rating - I’d say 3.5-4 stars if you’re gluten free. If you’re not GF, you’re probably in the 4+ stars.

Do not buy their key lime pie.I bought two key lime pies for a birthday party. They were simply terrible. Very sweet and zero tartness. It was so lacking in tartness that there was next to no lime flavor.
