First time at the SLC location, but they never disappoint! The food is always phenomenal and the staff is so friendly. Kiki was especially delightful -- I'd totally try to be her friend if I weren't just passing through!Today we both got milkshakes, we shared a mac, I got the reuben, and he got the SLC stake sandwich. So good!Vegetarian options: Everything is vegan!Dietary restrictions: Plenty of clearly labeled gluten-free options. And all items that contain nuts are clearly labeled.

It was surprisingly delicious for being plant based, and I'm pretty sure they have the best coffee!

This was a surprisingly great experience. While everything here is plant-based and vegan, they do not skip on taste, and certainly not on quality. The service was friendly, focused, patient and kind. From appetizers to desserts, everything was excellent and filling. The atmosphere is welcoming. I will return.

Comment to Vertical Diner on their response below. You blocked me after I asked a legitimate question. I used to come to your restaurant very often. Now unfortunately I see what you are all about. And it's not good at all. Your philosophy seems to be "agree with us or we block you." OK, I get it but I want no part of it. And my review of the Russian restaurant below and hiring the waitress... IT WAS PARODY!!! I have never even been to Russia. Sorry if it was hard to figure that one out!!! ;)

In the realm if vegan or vegetarian it is one of my tops. It's American diner stle food and dive atmosphere, setting, and service. My meat eating friends were not impressed, but me and my veggie friends will go back.Vegetarian options: I love the chik'n sandwich with fries and "cheese" sauce. Their biscuits and gravy is great too!

I am visiting out of town with my family and this was the best vegan spot we could find! Our server was Haley and she was the absolute sweetest! We had so many questions about items and she had all of the answers and even recommended her favorite items. We ended up talking so much, I felt bad because it was steady, but she made us feel like we were the only ones there! She recommended some of her favorite national parks and other places to try and she just made us feel at home. If we ever find ourselves out this way again we’d come back for haley. Thanks for making such an impact!ps.. vertical tacos were a great recommendation

We have one in Portland. Was really hoping this would be better. OK food, all Vegie. Didn't get my order quite right and food is OK, not great. I would still go back but have my expectations proper.

I've held off reviewing Vertical Diner for several years now, still mourning the fall from grace it experienced after changing ownership and no longer being Sage's. However, after several years in the wilderness I feel like it has finally built its way back to serious competition for the best vegan food in Utah. The addition of more fresh ingredients, the habanero mango wings, and an improved tempeh bacon and crispy chik'n add to an addictive dipping cheez sauce to make it hard to go wrong. My wife always orders La Mesa, an excellent GF option. I jump around more, but the Ian McKaye mac-and-cheeze burger is a favorite. We eat here 2-3x a month and can strongly recommend it; our carnivore friends have been happy with their food too, since it not only has great flavors but in the last years has got the textures right too.
