Nice restaurant with plenty of seating. It is truly a Hidden Gem as it's located the backside of a salon. You can go through the salon into the restaurant or park and enter around the back directly into the restaurant itself. Good menu with a good variety of items. Hard-working family restaurant. My wife and I went there just before they were closing for the afternoon yet they were very friendly and very accommodating. Plenty of food choices at reasonable prices.Parking: Plenty of parking but the restaurant does share space with a full service salon. Best parking to enter restaurant is behind the salon. Probably would be a perfect spot to have lunch and treat yourself to a variety of Salon Services.

Food was delicious. Everyone in my group something different and we all liked our food. Parking is plentiful. Atmosphere is very nice, a lot of detail went into decorating.

Had a great lunch. They offer a vegetarian plate. Also, no meat in the veggies. Southern style cooking puts meat in everything.

The service and food quality were definitely worse than when we’ve been here in the past. Food took almost an hour to arrive (sandwiches, a burger and soup). The burger was cold and the soup thin and bland. The chicken salad was very good as always, but that was the only thing that was above average. The server never came by to check on us or offer a refill (or bring the check). I had to wait five minutes at the cash register just to get someone to come over so I could pay. Overall, a very unsatisfactory experience.

I'm 2 hours from Abingdon, but when my husband and I go, I'm always Googling somewhere different to eat. This place come up as located in the back of a Spa called The Polished Diamond (nails and spa combined), so my first thought was, "I bet this place will be high dollar". Now we're not that frugal, but all the Chain Restaurants run the same... at least $10-15 just for lunch. So I decided to view the menu and I decided right then, the Menu had to be from like 5 years ago. I mean not Wendys $1 menu cheap, but lower than I had paid in a while. So we went searching and it is "Hidden". Look for the Spa sign and pull behind the building. I'm here to tell you, the menu had food that other restaurants don't offer on a daily basis. They have a daily special, but I opted for Chicken Salad on a Croissant and chips but was offered fruit or a few other items instead. The menu has Tuna salad, adult grilled cheese, (which my 88 yr old Dad always asks for everywhere we go), hot dogs, cornbread, cornbread salad which was yummy, pineapple coleslaw.. on an on. And the desserts. Wow. I got a piece of Carrot Cake to take home because it was loaded with cream cheese icing and it was the best by far. And I have to add everything was so fresh. I would eat there everyday if I lived closer. The only thing I'm going to have to check on is the hours. Online it says 11-3, and closed on weekends. Other than than a I can say nothing bad ?☺️

I was warmly welcomed by the chef's DIL, and service was the same . . . good 'ole southern charm and hospitality. It felt like I had been invited to someone's home vs. a restaurant. The restaurant was pristine clean and nicely decorated. I had the meatloaf special with real mashed potatoes and cornbread salad . . . served by the grandmotherly chef herself who was so grateful for my patronage. Both the meatloaf and potatoes were tasty, but just a little underseasoned for me personally. However, the cornbread salad was the BEST . . . it was so good that I bought two servings to go! The portions and prices were reasonable. I definitely will try more of the obviously homemade menu.

My office orders lunch here once a week & I’ve always enjoyed my meal. My favorite is definitely the baked potato but the salads and chicken tenders are good too. Abingdon has too many fast food & fancy restaurants but not many mid-price casual restaurants. Hidden Gem perfectly fits the mid-range home-cooked meal niche.

Ordered ahead as we were traveling in a group, had to reorder when we arrived. the chili on the hot dog was not chili, just some type of bland meat, ordered the cheeseburger plain, it arrived with everything on it; the fries are not french fries but home cut potatoes. The pecan pie was served hot and was not homemade, but store bought, the desert on the menu of the super sugar cookie with everything was no longer offered, HUGE disappointment. Restaurant is in the back of a nail salon so the place had the overtone smell of a nail salon as well. Service was hugely slow considering they asked us to pre order 2hr ahead and still had to repeat the order when we arrived. Skip this hidden gem, more like a hidden hole that should have stayed hidden
