Captain Gregory’s is a small speakeasy with amazing cocktails. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and detailed oriented. We ordered drinks off of the menu for our first round and second round we asked the bartender to be creative. All were amazing!

Amazing hole in the wall nautical themed speakeasy with food as good as the drinks. I'd tell you to stop in but I don't need you taking up the limited seating.

CAUTION: BE EXPLICIT and INTENTIONAL while making reservations. I made a reservation for Captain Gregory's... the actual hidden, speakeasy portion of the restaurant, with handcrafted cocktails and a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the person working at "Railbird" (the forward facing, lunch counter portion of the establishment) attempted to seat myself and my party at Railbird and not Captain Gregory's. I'm not sure if they had over booked or not, I wasn't really given an answer, I was told that "they served the same food and drinks at both the speakeasy and the restaurant ". Needless to say, my friends and I left, which was really sad because they were in town from Dubai for the DC leg of their engagement party. I've lived in Parker Gray for nearly 20 years, and I remember 804 Henry as Elizabeth's counter, Sugar Shack Donuts, and empty wearhouse space before that... I sure hope that my last Captain Gregory's experience wasn't my last Captain Gregory's experience. Please be sure to specify Captain Gregory's speakeasy seating on your reservations.

Very cool speakeasy-style cocktail bar! Menu (allegedly) changes every 6-8 weeks. I especially appreciated the fact that the family of (e.g., Old Fashioned, Negroni, Daiquiri, etc) to which each drink belongs is indicated on the menu. It's also a pretty diverse cocktail menu; no matter what your preference is, you'll be able to find something that sounds good. There are a couple of small plates on offer, but we only sampled the donut holes (delicious). Decor is outstanding - someone took some time, effort, and money to make the space unique, interesting, engaging, and cool - which is more than I can say for some "speakeasys." Make a reservation!

My fiance and I did a cocktail class here and it was AMAZING! Such a great experience + value and highly recommend! We made 3 full sized cocktails with the highlight being each couple got to craft their own for the last one with Brandon advising. He took a ton of care to ensure people learned something + created something that tasted great! Thank you so much!!

Exclusive and rude are not synonymous.I miss our old “speakeasy” so was really looking forward to trying this place. I wanted to like it, but the interaction with the staff made that impossible. Will acknowledge this is a small place and we were a group (7), but had made reservations far in advance and following the website’s instructions to email ahead of time to get together, or close-ish and zero response. My friend, who had been there before and loved it, did finally get a response from them and really had a condescending and unhelpful tone to it. We thought somebody was just having a bad day and because of the previous experience there, decided to still try it and hope it would work out.A speakeasy being exclusive is expected, but exclusive and rude are not synonymous. We go for the experience, the thrill of getting in the door and the understanding that once inside the door, will be taken care of. I can understand not being able to put us all together, I can understand breaking us up, but what I am not ok with is:Our 7th person was a late add (but had a reservation) and just retired from the military, so our couples meal, turned into a celebration for her, but rather than try to hear or understand that, they put her in a seat farthest from us, by herself and wouldn’t even listen to try and just move her to the other side of the bar closest to us. When we decided to leave, a guy tried to block my way, in an attempt to point me to the exit behind me, and talk over me when I tried to say I was just going to go get my friend and had to repeat it three times before he stopped long enough to listen.15 years in food service and now a career in dealing with people and problems - customer service is an art, listening is a skill and this place needs to work on both or no matter how good the donuts are (that I didn’t get to try) there won’t be anybody to charge a reservation fee to keep people from bailing. This was a sad miss and a hard pass.

Very fun speakeasy and honestly a hidden gem of Alexandria! Drinks are from $18-23 each, and are well worth it. Highly recommend making a reservation at the bar, since the bartenders are more attentive (not that table service seemed bad, but the service at the bar was great). Perfect for a date, as the music isn't too loud and the bar doesn't carry sound so the noise level is perfect for talking.

Good place for a small group to make conversation over some unique cocktails! They even dug up a zero proof gin that they used to make a mocktail experience for someone in our group who doesn’t drink alcohol. These are pricey drinks but they’re also very strong and flavorful so we didn’t get more than 2 per person. Also, they give complementary fresh donuts and they are the best donuts ever!

This place has great cocktails, atmosphere, and the donuts at the end are a great treat. Highly recommend the tables in the back (more of a lounge style)

It was alright. Unfortunately overpriced for the experience and the quality and quantity of the food and drinks. The potbelly was good but half of it was just fat. The crab cakes were good but warm and not hot. A little disappointing. I liked the atmosphere but it was SO dark in there. I wish we had tried somewhere else first.
