We've attempted to go here twice, both times we stood at the door for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us. The first time we left. The second time we were eventually seated but then waited another 15 minutes to even get water. They came by and asked what we wanted to order and I expressed frustration for not even being served the most basic item (we watched them serve other tables that came in after us with menus, water, and actual attention). The server told us we could eat somewhere else.... So we did. Never in my life has this happened to me. I run a hospitality business in Old Town and I will continue to discourage our guests from attending this place.

I was in town visiting friends, but this spot was very busy. The hostess was beyond friendly, and actually suggested other neighborhood spots we should try. Since she was SO kind, I came back to La Fromagerie the next night, and the same hostess remembered me!! It was less busy, so I was able to immediately get a table. I treated myself to a lovely "girl dinner" of wine and cheese. The soft cheeses were especially good, and my Pet Nat wine was delicious. Great space and great service!

La Fromagerie has become our go to restaurant in Old Town......period! The atmosphere is laid back, the seating is comfortable, the staff is absolutely top notch and, the food is amazing. La Fromagerie offers a variety of seasonal dishes, which results in an evolving menu based on time of year. The wine and cheese options are unrivaled in Old Town. We discovered this place one night walking our dog and it seemed super cozy and warm, AND everyone in the place appeared to be local and super relaxed. We were hooked after our first meal there and it really is our go to spot now. Enjoy.

Adorable and cozy wine bar, visited solo while on a work trip and had the best experience. Megan took great care of me and poured excellent wines. The food was great as well and you can never go wrong with charcuterie and cheese. I look forward to returning on my next visit to Alexandria.
I finally got a chance to enjoy dinner here on my most recent visit! If you can grab a table, do it! Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful!

Overpriced for what is served. The waitress really knew her menu and wines, so she was great! The tiniest little pieces of cheese and the few little meats were not worth it tho.... Personally, I won't be back, but they did stay very busy. I would call this restaurant "bougie" and many folks like that. Teeny tiny portions for loads of money is just what some folks like. Just not for me, I guess. Enjoy!

Sailor disapproved. Horrible place they didn't let my friends wife in 2 mins before opening to use restroom and it was raining we had party of 6 but they let another lady use restroom a minute before. The door was unlocked not locked let me remind you. Very rude and then at 1 they locked the door and did not open for over 5 mins. There's this guy claiming to be the manager cussed me out and it shows very horrible customer service.

Under appreciated gem. It’s billed first as a cheese shop, and indeed the proprietor has excellent taste in cheese, but as a bistro it stands out as easily some of the best food in Old Town. Classic French food done well, with wonderful salads.
