Absolutely DELICIOUS tapas selection. I've been a couple of times now and it's my favorite restaurant for group meals!

Great service and delicious authentic food! The paella is worth the wait and can serve a group when sharing the all you can eat option - it’s a great addition that shouldn’t be overlooked! They even prepare it right at your table.

La Tasca is a wonderful place to meet up with friends and have drinks and great small plates of food knows as tapas. The Spanish style food is always good and fresh. I like the skewers of beef, empanadas, and calamari the most. They even have paella which looks really good too especially if you're going to share it with a few people. The service is always friendly and the drinks are good especially the variety of red and white sangria. Definitely a good place that I would recommend. :)

Solid 3.5 for me! Aesthetics of the place were great with nice lighting. Service was nice, but some dishes took awhile to come out, but overall, nice server. I've tried the paella here: seafood version and the meat version. Only get the seafood paella here. The meat one was made with duck, but it was mainly bones and it was a pain to enjoy. Having to separate the meat off the bone took away from the experience. I also had the tapas sampler. It was good, but I felt the veggies could of been cooked more as the onion was too raw and powerful. Not a bad place for a weekend out! Definitely get the seafood paella.

Such a bright and airy place. I'm so used to walking into dark, dimly lit spaces and La Tasca took me by surprise. I only had some sangrias (which the MANY options were all delicious) but the staff was friendly and welcoming. I hope to go back for more sangria soon! ?

Our server was obnoxious to say the least. She kept coming back as if she wanted us to leave. The place was fairly empty with many empty tables. We finally asked her to give us time to digest before she asked us again if we were done.

Restaurant week at La Tasca is the BEST! You can never go wrong with unlimited tapas for $35! #WINNING

The sangria at La Tasca is INCREDIBLE! I really enjoy the food too, especially the patatas bravas and coquettas, but the sangria is the real reason I keep bringing visitors back here for tapas! It also has great ambience- pretty and comfortable at the same time, a solid choice for a place to catch up with friends or have a date!

TL;DR: Double-check your receipts! We visited as a party of two for Valentine's Day. Had a relatively pleasant evening overall. Food was good, if a little pricey for my taste. Service was a bit slow, but it was a holiday and our server appeared fairly busy. No big deal. He was plenty nice and professional and handled everything well. When we got our bill, we were surprised by the tax. Alexandria, Virginia is supposed to have a local 5% meals tax on top of a 6% sales tax for a total tax of 11%. Our bill didn't state the tax rates / percentages at all, but with a quick glance at the dollar amount, it was obvious something was off and the rate that we were charged was double what it should have been! We were charged 22% for "tax." What? This wasn't gratuity, but rather just the tax. We asked our server about it and long story short, after a bit of pressure he said he talked to the manager and apparently the manager fixed our bill. He said the manager claimed something along the lines of, "It's something that just happens every once in a while." I don't know if this was a simple accident on our server's part when printing up our bill, a glitch in their sales system, or something nefarious on the part of the restaurant or owner, but it certainly shouldn't be happening! If it's a glitch or accident, it's incredibly important to fix it ASAP. If it's the restaurant trying to hide fees or other costs or otherwise charge more money to customers under the "tax" label, it's disingenuous.

Always a pleasure to go to La Tasca. The variety of small plates ensures there is something for everyone. And you can't go wrong with sangria by the pitcher!

We went to this location (1st time) during the "restaurant week" promotion in Alexandria, VA during the January 2020 event. Had a reservation, however, did not need it during the 6:30pm dinner hour; was able to get seating immediately with no wait at a busy time. The serving staff was attentive, explained all items to us; how Spanish-tapas ordering worked and suggested adult beverages to go with the choices. Our server did advise us she had to 'swop out', after 20-minutes, there was a short lag order - - however - - pace of business understandable. Not a party foul to stress about. Quality of all items was very good, flavorful, and rich in taste-texture. Totally a full-calorie experience! Very good value for the visit, portions were medium-sized, cost around $95.00 double-fare, wine, gratuity. Overall: (****) Yay! I am a fan and would recommend to others.

I went to La Tasca with some of my friends for Restaurant Week and the service was TERRIBLE! We had reservations, yet had to wait a long time to get seated. Our server was very short and rolled her eyes when we ordered a second round of food, was spilling our drink as she was very abruptly pouring it....The food was GREAT but the service was one of the worst ones I have experienced, so i will not be going back.

Alexandria Restaurant Week is a really good chance to sample a nice selection of tapas. I chose chicken and ham croquettes, shrimp in olive oil and garlic, beef steak and lamb with potatoes. More than I could eat for $22. Everything was freshly prepared and service was excellent.
