Nothing to write home about. We searched for Italian and this is what we found. It wasn't really Italian other than the name so im not sure how that happened, as it only had a few pasta dishes. The waiter was very odd and very adamant about the lemonade. We asked about specials and he referred us to the main entrees on menu and then told us about one special. The table near us had a waitress and that's how we found out that there were in fact more specials... probably wouldn't go back or refer anyone.

We walked in and were not greeted by anyone - had to go find someone to seat us. The onion tart was awful. We couldn’t finish (one bite in) - I mean literally it was one of the worst things I tasted in years. We asked to leave and just pay for the drinks (ps 9 dollars for a bottle of San Pelligrino that we ordered because the tap water had a very odd taste and smell). Don’t go here for lunch!

Been coming here as my Fri night spot for about 4 years!2nd generation family-owned restaurant with a mix of dishes that lean Italian, Greek/Medi, Seafood, and American bar fare. They have weekend specials every weekend (entree and dessert), and a special Mon/Tues dinner/wine combo menu. Bottom line, the food is EXCELLENT, and also priced very well.One of (if not) the best Gin selections in Old Town! The Bourbon and Scotch selections are also above average. 8 beers on tap that largely stay the same (unfortunately).Live Jazz every night on the restaurant side, which depending on the group/performer can still be heard on the bar/lounge side.Parking: Parking garage that's free after 5p and on weekends, down a side driveway.

I was invited to celebrate my birthday. I chose LaPorta restaurant since I held my son's graduation from GMU there five years ago. My friend and I were equally impressed and satisfied with all aspects of the restaurant. Noteworthy was listening to Sharon Clark and the jazz band. We had an absolutely wonderful time.
Great evening out with excellent food wine and service. We always enjoy the jazz combo too. Laportas continues to maintain its high level of service and quality. Thank you. We always return. Highly recommend.

The music and food were really good. I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi. It was delicious with the coconut curry sauce. Perfect for a date night. It's not an environment for kids. So keep them with the nanny ?.

Always a reliable terrific dining experience from every aspect. A family owned neighborhood gem. Last night was uncharacteristically loud due to a group at the next table, but still a very nice dining experience.
