We love this place for coffee and Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, we stopped by yesterday for bread and coffee just to find out they are closed permanently. We are very sad and upset about it!!!

Coffee good! They we're out of Cheddar for my sandwich, ran out of waffles, no condiments, so enjoy your dry cheese less sandwich and coffee. For $14. Go somewhere else.

Wonderful muffins, great coffee, and the friendliest staff who takes time to get to know you. I love this place and come here often.

The food and drinks are ok. But they are always understaffed. The little staff they do have are a bit too chill. There is not much sense of urgency.

Casual atmosphere, lots of windows. You can use it as a work space too. The coffee is middle of the road with prices to match. Some baked goods, but not much beyond bread/carb/gluten items. All good things. It's a bit too warm inside on hot days due to the windows, but there is a lot of communal outdoor seating which is fun and opens up the possibilities. Dogs seem to be allowed if that's important to you.

This place has some of the best coffee I've ever had! Not to mention the staff is incredible. I ordered coffee from a neighboring cafe and it came out awful and their customer service was poor. I walked over to Bread & Water after and when they heard about my experience they gave me my coffee on the house. Safe to say Bread & Water is my new local coffee shop of choice!

Bread. Water. Coffee. Pastries. The most interesting thing about this place is the location. We got two coffees, a bacon and cheddar sandwich, and a banana muffin. I honestly don't think I'll be back :(

Went there to grab breakfast and there was only one lady working and doing everything so it took a while for us to get our order. The hot chocolate was terrible, watered down with no flavor, the avocado toast $11 for a slice of bread that looked very sad and soggy nothing like th picture on the website, the croissant was supposed to have tomatoes and lettuces and it was non existent. The only good thing were the waffles.

I was excited that my schedule finally matched B & W's hours of operation because I have wanted to try this place for some quite some time. The signage on the bakery items were incomplete and the person working in shop was not very helpful and had a bit of an attitude. She was abrupt and unpleasant when I was asking her questions about the products and kept talking to someone on her bluetooth ear piece. Definitely not a pleasant experience for a Saturday afternoon. I won't be coming back anytime soon.

Shoulda listened to all the other low reviews and went somewhere else. Maybe it was only this location but the single female staff working there was not friendly to us or most of the people coming in and out. She was only friendly to a dog. She made passive aggressive statements after we ordered food saying with attitude and no smile, "you know it's going to take a while to make since I'm the only one here", it wasn't even busy here on a Tuesday late morning. Before the food review and just based on service you should go somewhere else. Avocado toast barely had any avocado on it for $10! Egg bacon biscuit. The biscuit was super dry and the sandwich itself is super thick and hard to bite and eat. And the coffee was super acidic and had an odd flavor to it. It wasn't burnt but it was almost like a sour acidic flavor. Oh and the hot chocolate we got barely had any chocolate in it, tasted just like water.

Coffee is complete garbage. Probably the worst latte I've ever had. Pretty much tasted like dirty water. Don't waste your time. I just threw mine in the trash.

Worst cafe I've been to. The employees are rude and seem confused that they have customers to serve. Service is super slow, you're better off waiting in line at origins across the street. It took like 25 minutes one day for me to get a croissant. Another day, they just randomly closed early and refused to serve us, even though the sign out front clearly stated they weren't closing for about 30 minutes. You're better off going anywhere else in pentagon city.

Bread and Water Company is a cafe inside a glass space in Pentagon Row. With seating outside, they do takeout only. They have a full coffee menu, breads and many pastries. I stopped in for a chocolate croissant. It was big and got the job done. Was it the best I've had? No, but it was a decent breakfast for a few dollars.

I don’t know how it has this many stars. I’m very unimpressed with this coffee joint. We came here last Sunday and stood inside for 5 minutes before we left because we weren’t even acknowledged by the staff. There was only one person ahead of us waiting on something. Then we went back today and there were more people working so we checked out faster, but it took them 12 minutes to make an iced latte and cold brew. The guy on the coffee was so slow. Also, the coffee was so bad I couldn’t even finish it. I threw it away after 2 sips. So disappointed!

Coffee (latte) tasted watered down and off, and the baguette was stale (and tasted burnt) when we got it home two hours later.Biscuits were ok though.
