Breakfast was great!!! I got the scrambled eggs with toast and added bacon. Wish they had grape jam/jelly to go with my toast but they don't serve it. And the cheese on my eggs was just on top, wish it was incorporated throughout where i got the same taste in every bite.

Whenever I visit DC, I look up the nearest B&P.I had the occasion to catch up with an old friend and was thrilled we came upon this one tucked in the corner of several food shops and near a theater. While we didn't eat this time, I browsed the books. I was greeted when I entered the area, and the attendant was kind and professional in answering my questions about purchasing and shipping merchandise. While there are no real Busboys anymore, the literary and community flavor may have you catching a Poet or two one night. So whether going for just a cocktail, or a full meal, Busboys & Poets is a good bet for some good eats, and good company. And you might even learn something new!

I always love visiting Busboys And Poets. With a basically all day brunch menu, it’s a breakfast lovers dream. They also have a fantastic mini book store with a lot of great selections.

Very disappointed with our service tonight. We usually love coming here. We were completely forgotten by our waiter. It took 30 minutes to get drinks, an hour for food, and by the time it got there, one of our orders was wrong and it seemed like they had been sitting forgotten for some time before they made it to us. EDIT: and it gave me food poisoning

This was my first time eating at this place and didn't know what to expect. Bottom line, it was really good. Great atmosphere and great service with outstanding food. Definitely going back.

If You Want the French Toast... Call in AdvanceDon't get me wrong, I love Busboys and Poets but my most recent visits have been lackluster. The vibe is still good. The food is still good but the service has come to a screeching halt at least at this location.I was recently there on a Friday night and then Sunday morning. I recommended it to two different guests we were hosting because they wanted to meet my mother. The food was excellent on Friday (if you haven't had the catfish that's the dish to get) but the service was super slow. Yes, the place was busy but I was surprised because I haven't experienced this before at Busboys and Poets. On Sunday we arrived at 10AM. My mother ordered her usual Sweet Potato Hash (still need to try it sometime). The rest of us in our party ordered the french toast. I had heard it was good. The waiter then informed us that they were out of french toast. We looked at him like he must've been confused. It was only 10AM. My mother even said, "How are you out of french toast? It's bread and eggs. Harris Teeter is across the street." We all laughed and continued to joke the waiter when he came back to check in on us and asked if we needed anything else. "Yeah, some french toast." Needless to say, he got a good tip.

We ordered some very tasty vegan and gluten-free food from a variety of dishes on their menu. It was very enjoyable: vegan nachos and vegetable quinoa bowl. Nice concept and atmosphere.Vegetarian options: Clearly marked, various options, soups, salads, mains, entrees, sandwiches, burgers etc.Dietary restrictions: Clearly labeled gluten-free, vegan, soy-free options, allergens and a big variety for customers with dietary restrictions.

We all got burgers... they were ok. Our waiter was not attentive at all. He didn't pay attention to the specifics of our order even tho he wrote it down.
