I went here for my friends birthday tea and we were treated like royalty. I believe our waitress was named Elizabeth (she was Ethiopian) and she was so sweet. She took our photos and also accommodated my friend and my special dietary needs. Her cousin also worked there and he was super sweet as well. The whole staff was really nice. The tea was good and it was an overall fun experience. I recommend!

It is unfortunate that the hotel is being redone and the restaurant has moved into a small ballroom space rather than in the lovely restaurant space. Menu was excellent. Not sure if it's going to matter once they move the new concept restaurant back into the restaurant space. Had an interesting take on an old fashion which was smoky. In the beginning the smoke almost choked me but when it mellowed the drink was nice but frankly I did not taste the smoke.

I had a very enjoyable birthday dinner celebration with my girlfriends. Every meal we ordered was in good taste!!! I want to say a big thank you for the complimentary birthday dessert. And I must say I had the most delicious breakfast ever!!! They have the most delicious and fluffiest pancakes. I Highly recommend and would definitely revisit. Birthday celebration, it was very loud. The food was okay -I've had afternoon tea elsewhere on DC with better quality in the food and more in line with what we experienced in London. Unfortunately, I will not be going back for afternoon tea at Fyve. I was sad and disappointed, because I've had Easter brunch here and thoroughly enjoyed that.

Went for afternoon high tea service, which my companion and I expected to be luxurious treat. When we arrived and entered the room I was surprised to see that it was a stuffy, windowless, drab, beige banquet room in the interior of the building with unflattering overhead lighting and a television set in the corner broadcasting a football game the entire time. The ambience didn't seem appropriate at all for an elegant tea service. The tea and pastries themselves were reasonably good though the cakes were dry. It felt as though this concept was put together by people who have never been to a nice tea and had no context for what that experience should be like. For what we got, the price tag should have been much lower, in my opinion. I could have taken my friend to an extravagant lunch in a lovely environment for a fraction of what I paid for tea and a handful of adequate pastries in a depressing-looking room. The idea of tea at the Ritz certainly sounded like it would be something a little more special than it turned out to be. I have to give credit to the staff, however, who were very warm and inviting. If the food and ambience were a little lackluster, it was no fault of theirs.

Amazing food. We had the scallop and lamb belly. Everything was on point and delicious.

I am tea enthusiast and go out for tea pretty regularly. I had not yet been to the Ritz-Carleton Pentagon City and had high expectations based on their reputation within the hospitality industry. I was disappointed to find that the room they were using for tea was a windowless, low-ceilinged interior conference room with flourescent lighting a big screen TV in the corner playing a sports channel. This is not the environment for a a special treat, which is what tea service should feel like. I wouldn't want to do anything in this room, let alone have a dining experience. That was the worst thing about this experience, but it's a big deal. For what they charge you should expect and get luxury. I brought guests to treat them to what I thought would be an elegant experience. We were all unpleasantly surprised and I was embarrassed that I had brought them there. The servers were absolutely lovely and attentive. The tea was good. The accompanying pastries and savories were OK but inconsistent in quality.

Service for high tea was exceptional but the food was average. The hotel looks surprisingly run down and bland and the dining area felt like a basement room with no windows, plants, or pictures. All staff who worked there that we encountered were lovely and gracious but the atmosphere visually really detracted from the anticipated experience in a pretty city like DC. The high tea experience cost more that an exceptional tea in London in a gorgeous location so unless the space is improved and food slightly bumped up, not with the price.

The restaurant is now in a small ballroom; the atmosphere is more like a HoJos than the previously cozy and upscale vibe it once had. Food was delicious. Service was very slow, especially given there were only ever two other tables with guests.

Disappointed. I was looking forward to eating at Fyve. I did not know the restaurant was undergoing a renovation so the room was not up to their usual standards. The food that I ordered tasted delicious but their were no usual accompaniments like bread and butter. I was told they weren't serving bread and butter because of Covid. What?! Now that seems odd. Anyway, I won't be back until renovations are finished.

The scones were absolutely incredible. The food and tea service were nice, but one comes to tea for ambiance. There is zero ambiance and atmosphere in your current arrangements. Made for a lackluster time.

Our tea was a nice experience but nothing earth-shattering. It's a nice dining room. The food is good but to be honest it didn't feel very special. The wait staff was nice but you kind of feel like they are underpaid - not trained to deliver service that you'd expect from a Ritz Carlton. The food is good but not really anything unique. So....solid but more mundane than special.

As far as afternoon tea goes, all the elements were there. The food was great and the tea was a nice blend. It was very noisy because of construction and we were sat in a ballroom which was disappointing as far as atmosphere. I have had happy hour here several times and the service was always spot on but not up to par this time. Had to ask for water, the tea was strained before it came to the table, and it took a very long time for the server to ask if the food had things I was allergic to (which I had discussed before when I made my reservation). Just not what I'm used to when I'm dining at the Ritz Carlton.

Disappointed

FYVE is currently under renovation, which was not mentioned on its website. I arrived at the hotel expecting a nice dinner venue because it is, after all, The Ritz-Carlton. Instead, the restaurant was set up in a ballroom, with a bar in the corner (at which you couldn't sit at, like a bar that would be set up in the back of a ballroom at a wedding), and tables spaced out throughout the room. I felt like I was entering a work conference, not a restaurant. It was a very odd experience. Had I known this, I would not have booked my dinner reservation at this restaurant. Part of paying the price for the food and wine is the atmosphere, and the ballroom was unimpressive and overall just an odd dining experience. I was embarrassed when my guest arrived for dinner because we both were expecting a nice restaurant, not a ballroom with tables scattered about.
