Good day, I visited your restaurant at 9:10 PM, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Initially, things seemed promising when Alberto welcomed us and seated us comfortably, checking if the kitchen was still open. After confirming, he handed us over to Alejandro, who took our orders efficiently—appetizers, including wings, and salmon for our main course. However, the experience soured when dealing with a situation involving the wings. After tasting one that was supposed to be plain but found it bland, I requested to switch it for one with buffalo sauce baked in, as I initially misunderstood the preparation. At 9:32 PM, your manager, Alicia, approached our table. Unfortunately, her demeanor was less than professional, with a dismissive attitude that was evident from her body language and tone. Despite my efforts to explain my misunderstanding and request, Alicia responded sharply, denying any accommodation since I had already tasted the wing. This interaction was in sharp contrast to the welcoming service provided by Alberto and Alejandro. Alicia’s response did not only feel dismissive but also unwelcoming, which overshadowed the entire dining experience. I believe every guest deserves to feel heard and respected, and I hope this feedback can be used to ensure a consistently positive experience for all patrons. Regards, Moe Grace

Had the decor and beer list you would hope an Irish pub would have. Service are the bar was on the slower side and it was not that busy. Fish and chips were underwhelming. Would have preferred the usual 3 smaller pieces than 1 big one. Too much breading not enough fish. Shepards pie was hot and hearty.

This place seems very authentic and our server was even sporting an Irish accent. The decor was nice and service was good. The food was alright. The crisps were cooked perfectly. The sandwich was alright not much too it and I found myself still hungry afterwards despite it being $18.

They should change the name of this place to "I Am Not an Irish Pub"

I'll be honest... this place used to be good until all the new chef rotations or whatever the heck they are trying to do.I came here back in December with my boyfriend and his mom. We got the Reubens and they were phenomenal, so were the fries that came with it. I asked for a pickle spear with mine and they accommodated.Since then, we tried coming back and they have these weird little menus with only a couple options and none of which are even authentic Irish food. They are just random things the chef decides to call a "special." You NEED to bring the Reubens back and whoever made them back in December. Stick to what is good. Stop switching out your menus so much.I do not plan on returning since these changes.Parking: You will have to pay for street parking or get 1 hour free parking in the parking lots around the area/mall. Weekends free street parking.

The Ambiance is nice. We sat inside in the back. It's a bit darker, pretty much empty so you have a lot of space to yourself. The service was good from host to server. The food came fast which was rare for St. Patrick's day. Food: And this is where Mattie & Eddie's really needs to step up their game. Everything we ordered was just so average at best. The fries were okay, the salad was decent. But the corned beef sandwich was one of the worst I've ever had. You guys gotta make a proper Irish Reuben on grilled marble rye w slaw and sauce and everything else. That corned beef sandwich was a joke. The chicken curry and rice was a 4/10. The kids fish and chips was very sub par. My wife and I said afterwards we're gonna go somewhere else next year cuz of the low quality of food. And we've been coming here the past few years for St. Pattie's Day. If I were the owners of this place I'd hire some new Chefs who know how to cook food, like really cook. The menu itself is great, you guys have some really good dishes on there BUT they are not prepared well. You gotta fix that. I hate to say this but we go to Pentagon Row all the time, we're foodies so we have tried everything there from Nighthawk to Kusshi to Lebanese Taverna to Asia Bistro, Nando's, Noonchi, Basic Burger etc. And I would say that Mattie & Eddie's currently has the worst food. With that said, M&E's is a great place to get a beer, so if all you care about is the atmosphere and drinking then absolutely hit it up. But food wise, M&E's really needs to make some serious improvements especially for the price.

I NEVER write reviews of restaurants -- but this experience was SO bad I felt compelled. We had always gone to Sine's Irish Pub on the same site before it closed, and wanted the SPD celebration, so we tried this place for the first time today. It will be the last. I've now read other reviews (should have done so first), and they are essentially the same. Horrible service, way overpriced, and unacceptable food. Corned beef sandwich (a staple at an Irish pub, right?) was terrible -- plain white bread and dry, stringy corned beef. Overpriced beer (plastic cups, no mugs). One can of warm soda, no refills. There's more, but that's enough. Won't be back.

Vegetarian options: There is a single vegetarian dish, it being a stew without any meat.

We were here over a year ago and food was much better. Tonight everything was a little off. Service was slow - drinks were forgotten at one point. Food was mid. The cheese board comes with stale crackers and toasted white bread and small itty bitty pieces of cheese. The Irish stew was really good - but if you want brown bread you must pay extra. My husband's fish and chips was bland and even seven sauces couldn't help it. Guinness was good. Our waiter was friendly even though our service was slow.

We came here, anticipating that the restaurant/pub would be serving a great lunch in the tradition of its predecessor, another Irish bar that was at this site. We were wrong! The menu was very limited, so we thought these folks are really concentrating all of their effort to serve a great limited menu. We were wrong. The food was lousy and outrageously expensive! My son, and I each ordered the $20 cheeseburger (they only have ONE on the menu); his with an egg on it, I opted for the same burger, but without egg. Both were burned...served on a toasted bun...that was also burned. Oh, and the lettuce for the burger looked like it was plucked off someone's take out order from the night before! The waitress, while pleasant, was obviously over worked and frankly, off her game. When the food came to our table (she could have stopped the train wreck right there), she didn't say a word about the fact that even the French fries were two shades beyond golden brown. People at the next restaurant could hear as we took our first few bites of crunchy fries. The poor waitress was serving tables at all corners of a rather big pub and so we got very little of her attention...until we asked for the check and she saw that we barely ate half of the food. She offered a discount but we're not ones to accept a free lunch, so we just said "we'll take the check!" She brought another guy over who asked what was wrong, but by that time we already paid bill. All-in-all, either someone was having a bad day in the kitchen, or this new place doesn't come close to replacing Sine, the place that was here before this place was here! I would advise that if you're looking for an authentic Irish Pub in Arlington, you keep on moving. Definitely try out McNamara's. Better food, much better prices and the food is amazing!

I’ll be honest, this restaurant has never really interested me because its standard Irish fare feels overpriced for what it is. However, I came in for their Monday night “I Am a Sandwich” special from 5-9pm, which also happens at the same time as their game night. I ordered the AKA “AJ” Smash Burger. The old bay onions were not to my personal taste and I probably should have asked for them on the side, but the rest of the burger was fantastic! I don’t typically enjoy old bay, so I don’t think I was the target audience. The combination of crab dip, soft bread, crunchy lettuce, and flavorful burger was fantastic. I hope this pop up will stay long enough that I can come back to try another one of the options! My 4 star review reflects the fact that I’ve only had pop up food, so I can’t vouch for the overall quality of regular menu food.

As previously mentioned, when looking for Irish restaurants, I look over the beer list for Harp and Kilkenny. Then I look at the menu for food offerings. Mattie and Eddie's looked like a winner in both categories so, while visiting the area, in we went. It was early afternoon and there was a small crowd at the bar, some type of celebration it appeared. Perhaps that explained the poor service? Not sure. At any rate, after finally getting the attention of the ladies behind the bar, ordered a Kilkenny. It was okay, not much of a head in the glass and it seemed a little flat. Also ordered a Diet Coke for the wife and received a warm can with a glass of ice. This was also very flat After about 5-6 minutes I decided to get something light to eat and settled on a corned beef sandwich. It took another 5-10 minutes to get anyone's attention and I ordered the sandwich. It came out in a reasonable amount of time and when it did, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Two pieces of white bread and between them was a very small amount of shredded, rather dry looking corned beef, covered with way too much mustard. Now, I have never, in all my years of eating corned beef (both in Jewish delicatessens and other Irish restaurants) been served a corned beef sandwich on white bread. When questioned about this, the young lady now working the bar responded with a shrug of her shoulders and this comment " This is how we make them here. " That's it. No offer to change the bread or of something else on the menu. Pretty much just an eat it and shut up attitude. I finally asked for a fork so I could at least eat the corned beef. And, I was right, the meat was dry and stringy. I picked through it, eating what I could, working around the fatty parts. Finally I had had enough of the whole experience, paid the tab and left. Of course, with no intention of returning. Take my advice, unless you are trapped in Arlington and don't have time to go anywhere else; head down the road (or Metro) to Old Town Alexandria where you will find a great offering of Irish places whose employees are happy you are there, have great food, and treat you with appreciation for your patronage.

Ordered a rueben sandwich. I had ordered it once before, and it was delicious. They were out of corned beef. i then tried to order shepherd's pie. They were also out of mashed potatoes. Great service but unfortunately I had to eat somewhere else. Very disappointing. Found a great Irish pub in Shirlington. They had everything I ordered. I like the atmosphere but unfortunately I won't be back. If I ran my business this way, I'd be homeless.

Great fish and chips. Typical bar environment. Service not good at all. People nice, but apparently not enough of them. Expect to wait a LONG time for everything. Bartender did not know how to make a Maker’s Mark Manhattan. Then quizzed me on if I wanted a cherry? Did I want sweet vermouth? Etc. yep, I know what a Manhattan is. And it doesn’t include whiskey! Which is what I got. Deviled eggs are meh. Nothing special. Potato and leek soup mediocre. Fries so wilted it wasn’t funny (well, the wonderful fish was set right on top). So. Many. Sauces to go with the fish. They weren’t labeled, so had no idea what they were. All in plastic containers. Apple pie identical to what you get at McDonald’s. So all in all, I’m surprised this place is still in business!

Had a farewell for my boss here. The service is very kind and welcoming. The place is clean and definitely an Irish pub feeling. I ordered the soup and half sandwich special. The potato soup was not what I was expecting. It was more of a mush but tasty. Reuben was a nice slab of corned beef and met the taste buds. Prob try and go back some day.
