The taco varieties and tostadas are good, flavorful with good toppings and fillings. However, they don’t always have most items in their menu which is disappointing. Overall, it’s a casual spot to grab light snacks at an affordable price point.

I live nearby and had some lunchtime errands in Shirlington. Found T&P on google and figured I'd give it a shot for pickup. I chose 2 tacos from the "most popular" section of their square site - fish taco and chile rellenoThe place looks cute inside but it was a Tuesday afternoon = no customers. I hope they're able to hang on in this picky area because the tacos were really tasty. Wish I'd taken a pic before snarfing them down. They're served flat on twin (corn and/or flour?) tortillas & you fold and eat them. Can be a bit messy but man they were tasty! The fish taco was like a full piece of lightly-breaded catfish and the relleno was something special ...I'll definitely be back to try shrimp and mushroom varieties in future.

Exceeded my expectations! Really yummy tacos. Not traditional but amazing. I got the fried chicken taco that brings a lot of chicken and big pieces! Then the ribeye tacos had amazing flavor! But you need to try the inside out quesadilla, it’s a must have!

Good. I enjoyed their tostada even more than their tacos. We went pretty close to closing time so some of the items were limited. Their beer selection was also limited because of the time. Will Definitely try to come back during peak hours. I really liked their decor.

We'd been to this location in the past a few times and loved it. However this time it seems like there has been a huge change. They were out of most things including drinks in the foundation machine which was covered in fruit flies. The food was fast food quality, palatable but super bland. It was like bowling alley food. Very disappointing especially for the price we payed.

In his own words, Chef Graham Bartlett hopes that Taco and Piña serve up Mexican food in, "a non-pretentious and fun environment."Check and check.Inside you'll find bold colors, wicker hanging chairs, and pop art plastered onto the walls. Also, they have pretty good Mexican street-style tacos.I stopped by on a recent visit before catching a movie at the Shirlington AMC right around the corner. A friend and I split the giant portions of chips, guac, and salsa. The tub containers of guac and salsa are large enough for you to enjoy and then take the rest home. Both the Ribeye Asada Taco & Fried Chicken Tacos came double walled in corn tortillas- a good thing since they were both filled to the brim with meat and toppings. There's no shortage of Mexican options in Arlington, luckily Taco and Piña's vibrant style and unique take makes it a stand-out.

Wow! What an amazing experience. I haven't had a good Mexican meal in a while. I used to work for a fine dinning Mexican restaurant where 90% of the ingredients were imported from Mexico. Almost all personal in the kitchen were Mexicans and the food was very special. This place reminded me of my time working there. The first bite was a reminder of how difficult is to find good Mexican food and I'm not talking Tex-mex.The ingredients at Taco + Piña are fresh which makes a big difference from the corn tortilla to the Morita salsa on top of the Rice and Beans side.I mean... do you want to elevate your meal experience? Add some authentic homemade salsa.Friendly staff. If you are reading this, you have to eat here. We had the shrimp taco and beef. Guacamole and another side dish.I can't wait to comeback and try the other dishes. See you again soon. Thanks.

Neighborhood taco place offering just that.. . Tacos. The salsa is fresh with a hint of pineapple taste. Although the ribeye was tender, there wasn't anything spectacular that differentiates from another taco. The beef taco was the same as any other beef taco dressed with cilantro. The restaurant ambiance is cozy, music is loud and the outdoor seating was plentiful. The environment gets a plus, the food is average. Salsa is fresh.

On a Friday evening, my boyfriend and I also checked out Taco and Piña, a fast casual Mexican restaurant in the Village at Shirlington. It was the kind of place where you order at the counter, sit wherever you'd like (indoors or outdoors), and they serve you the food when it's ready. For drinks, my boyfriend enjoyed the Denizen Animal Hazy while I enjoyed a Maine Root Soda Mexican Cola. We shared a Chile Relleno, Baja Bahia, and Ribeye Asada and a side of Esquites. The Chile Relleno consisted of double soft corn tortilla topped with crispy cheese, roasted poblano, chipotle jitomate salsa, and crispy tempura fritters. The Baja Bahia consisted of double soft corn tortillas topped with crispy tempura battered catfish, avocado verde salsa, lemon mayo, and purple cabbage slaw. The Ribeye Asada consisted of double soft corn tortillas topped with spiced and flavorful steak pieces, avocado verde salsa, chopped scallion and cilantro. Esquites consisted of grilled corn on the cob topped with a creamy garlic mayo, cotija, lime, and tajin. I liked how the corn was slightly charred and split into half for easy sharing. Everything was tasty. Since they don't have knives, the only way to split the taco was to take turns taking a bite. If we had to pick a favorite taco, my boyfriend would choose the Chile Relleno taco while I would choose the Baja Bahia taco. We enjoyed the combination of flavors and textures.

Overpriced, out of margaritas, and horrible food (chuck of bone in chicken enchilada) 0/10 would not recommend. Cashier wore mask and could not understand anything he was saying.

Lots of not great things. First off, their AC wasn’t working on a 100+ degree day. Every surface in the restaurant was sticky to the touch, truly gross. Our shoes were still sticking to the ground as we were walking to the parking lot.The margarita I got was room temperature (no ice) and had little to no alcohol in it. Tasted like the mix you buy at the grocery store. I got the chicken tostada, which was a bit spicy, but other than that had no real discernible flavor. No cumin, no cilantro, not even salt. No nothing. The lettuce and tomato on mine tasted near moldy. My friend got the fried chicken taco, which was so over-fried that it she couldn’t bite into it or even stick a fork in it. When she tried her veggie taco, she immediately spit it out because she could tell someone had sprayed windex near it, causing it to have a chemical taste.Just don’t go here. Go to Guapo’s. Go to Taco Bell. Anywhere but here.

I am all for unusual taco flavors and I had really high hopes for this place but it really didn't live up. We chose it largely because of a heavy gluten-free menu, but in the end I wish we'd gone elsewhere. To start, despite all the cute, colorful photos, it's a fast food joint slightly dressed up, and the prep line looks like a McDonalds. The tacos vary quite a bit, and you had to have tasted a bunch to know which ones you'll like. My wife and I got one of each. The pork was dry, which was unusual (thankfully the pineapple helped). The ribeye asada was good, but it's hard to mess that up. The shrimp was overspiced, the chorizo uneventful. The one surprise was the mushroom which was the one highlight. The guac is ok but way overpriced, and the chips are horrible and greasy. The plantains are good but the black beans are basically nearly-dried salty paste and the rice I couldn't even eat.

Overpriced- go somewhere else It's not a very nice place to eat at. Better for a nice day when you could eat outside or take it to go. I thought the pineapple pina colda (or something) was gross and didn't drink it. The chips were good but the salsa tastes like it has barbecue sauce in it. The tacos were pretty good but they're all topped with pickled onion which I found weird. Wish we had gone somewhere else.

Tacos were pretty good. Some better than others. Chorizo was a real miss for us. The mushroom was better than expected. Chile relleno needed just a bit more flavor. Skip the Agua Fresca. Sugary water. Little flavor. Shirt taco was way over sauced. All of the tacos were just too drippy.
