Portion sizes are great here. It's not the best Thai food I've ever had but hits the spot if you are looking for a decent and quick take out spot.

The food has been better in the past. This use to be my favorite thai place. The care and quality has gone down in the last 3 years. I'm going to try the place next door.

It would be really nice if this place stayed open to the time posted on both their door and website. I wonder what other details they are overlooking?

Favorite Thai place to go to nearby. I love their Pad See Ew noodles and their green curry. The spiciness from the green curry balances out with the mild stir fry flavor of the noodles. Sometimes I switch it up and get the drunken noodles with the Panang. Honestly, you can't really go wrong here.

We ordered papaya salad which had a wonderful bright and zesty flavor. The drunken noodles were sooo good and had plenty of meat. Thank you for the great food and service :)

I used to eat here years ago when it was totally outstanding. Sadly they have lost touch with reality. The food is still hot and fresh, but the portions are sparse. Service itself is nonexistent, with the waiter coming by for one refill of water and to deliver my plate (over the rail) outside. Dish-wise, I was further disappointed that my Panang chicken dish was just that, a pile of chicken meat in a bowl of curry sauce. No garnishments, no additional veggies, etc. Just plain ol' chicken and curry. Too bad that this once great icon has lost its touch.

Don't let the modern strip mall location fool you, there's nothing bland about the flavors! Food was well seasoned and they were not afraid to bring some spice!

We stopped by Thaiphoon spontaneously this weekend and it was a very mixed experience. Pros: Great location! We went in the evening and sat on their patio, which has lots of seating. There was outdoor music in the Pentagon Row courtyard so the atmosphere was nice and it was a good spot to sit and grab dinner as a family. Cons: The food was mediocre at best. I got the Pad Thai and it was drenched in a pink sauce. It's a bit hard to see in the photo I posted, but as a result of the heavy sauce everything from the vegetables to the chicken had this pink tint that was really unappetizing. It didn't taste terrible, but I'm so used to Pad Thai being fresh with very clean flavors I just couldn't really eat it. My husband got basil fried rice, which was considerably better, just a little dry and really spicy (as in don't plan to share with anyone, like say a child eating with you, who can't tolerate extremely spicy food). They were also out of half of the drinks on their drink menu, which was a little disappointing. Overall, great location but not the most amazing food. You may be better off trying one of the other restaurants in Pentagon Row, many have similar patio spaces.

We recently wandered into Thaiphoon for drinks one day and wound up coming back for dinner the next. We enjoyed our meal and thought it very tasty. We've tried the appetizers spicy edamame and garden roll; both were delicious. In fact Ja was the simple, but tasty edamame that brought us back for dinner. For dinner we tried the Pepper Steak and Panang Curry with chicken, both were flavorful and worth ordering again. ...and of course we liked the drinks too. We hope you enjoy.

Untraditional pad Thai. Ramen noodles used as opposed to regular pad Thai noodles. Lacked a flavor, oily and over priced.

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while now and it did not disappoint! Everything was so good and the entree portions were big. I had the wings, spring rolls and lemon grass chicken entree. I also had a tasty mojito! The customer service was also great. I'm not sure why the overall rate is a 3, but I will certainly come back and try more things and update as needed.

Despite the three star overall review, I decided to try Thaiphoon. I was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious and did not have any issues with the service. The serving sizes were hefty as well the shrimp pad Thai and curry were delicious! The calamari appetizer was just ok.

Very good Thai food. Indoor seating was kind of dark and not in a romantic way. Next time we'll sit outside, weather permitting. Food was very fresh and the menu had a wonderful variety. I would go back sometime and order all the appetizers - they looked so good. Only reason it's not a 5 star review is the table wasn't very clean and the service was just okay.

One of the better Thai restaurants in the Crystal City area, and the prices are very reasonable.
