I recently stumbled upon The Black Hog while searching for a new place to eat on Google Maps, and I'm thrilled that curiosity led me here. This place caught my eye for its promise of freshly smoked meats.Upon arrival, the knowledgeable and passionate staff members made me feel reassured that I was going to be indulging in something great. Their enthusiasm for their offerings was contagious, compelling me to try the 8-count dry rub wings. At each table, they conveniently provide a variety of house-made sauces: KC BBQ, SC Mustard, MD Original, and NC Vinegar. Although all the sauces complemented the wings perfectly, the MD Original stood out with its unique flavor.For my entrée, I opted for the Texas Beef Brisket, accompanied by coleslaw and fries. The coleslaw was crunchy, the fries were perfectly seasoned, and the brisket was exceptionally tender—each bite was flawless.Finishing my meal, I was satisfyingly full and already planning my next visit. The Black Hog isn't just about great food; they also host events, with trivia nights on Mondays and rib and wing specials on Tuesdays.If you're in the mood for authentic, delicious barbecue and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend The Black Hog. It’s a spot that has quickly earned a place on my go-to list for great eats. I wish them nothing but success and look forward to many more tasty visits.Parking: Plaza that has a lot of parking spaces.

Update: Pit Beef is no longer on the menu. Nice job, guys. You took the best thing on your menu, ruined it, then dropped it. I guess I was right about the Ashburner, huh? Rating dropped by one star for menu mismanagement.Sad to report, really good Bal-more Pit Beef sandwich (two-inch brisket, tiger sauce, white onions) has been replaced by the not-so-good Ashburner (four-inch slice of something, horseradish, pickled onions). Having also tried their Arkansas BBQ, which didn't do it for me, The Ashburner really is the perfect name, as it sums up Ashburn BBQ past and present - mediocre. Oh well, I guess it's back to Chaps in Frederick or Baltimore for some real pit beef.

Some of the best BBQ I’ve had; certainly the best brisket around! I come here regularly. Only 3 stars for the atmosphere, but that’s because it’s casual, so don’t let that keep you away. Well with the calories and the money!

Service was amazing. I was going to get a cheeseburger with Arkansas brisket on the side, but the lady said let me make it a little cheaper. She gave me the Luke burger which has the Arkansas brisket on the sandwhich with same toppings and gave it to me on the side. The brisket had the perfect amount of spice and tang. The burger was perfectly cooked, medium rare. The fries were crisp and perfectly salted. It was very reasonably priced for the service and food. This place is hands down best barbecue place I have ever been to.

I’ve been twice, once dining in and once take out. Both times were exceptional. The mac and cheese is tasty but nothing special. The collard greens are outstanding and have a little bit of ‘heat’ most likely red pepper. Of course, their specialty is the smoked meats. The pork is great both pulled and NC (pulled and chopped). I’m not from Texas so it’s probably sacrilege, but the Texas style brisket is among the best I’ve had. Both meats were delicious, perfectly smoked, and the brisket had a beautiful ring and was tender. Service is quick, and the team there is very friendly and helpful. My only downsides are that it’s about 40 minutes for me, and I like slightly sweeter less hot sauce or a true vinegar BBQ sauce. But the meats are so good, no sauce is needed. And they do have a couple of other sauces available if you dine in.

The brisket is super dry and very tasteless. First, the guy got mad because I made a joke that this is supposedly a southern restaurant but serves small dry food. I asked to dine in but for me to dine out all because I gave them change but carried cash, i was waiting ok ill give them change at the register then give the kid the tip only for him. Instead I got opposite service over tip. So for them to be ignorant they gave me a bag to leave and they gave me dry meat and tiny little pieces. The only good thing was the KC sauce. For the amount of money I wouldn't pay this. Whoever is smoking the meat is not doing it correctly.So after reviewing I don't know if this area knows what southern BBQ is but this store is getting customers who don't know what southern food is and putting 5 stars which crazy. This star is a 3 at best.

Great spot for BBQ. The coleslaw is likely the best I’ve ever had. All of the meats I’ve had are also really good. My favorite go to is the three meat mofo sandwich. Staff is very friendly.

Husband and I visiting from Charlotte and decided to try Black Hog and and we are glad we did! Not many customers when we went on a Tuesday night at 7pm. Food was hot and delicious. I had the chopped pork and husband had Texas brisket and pork shoulder. No complaints. Try their Cole slaw as well.
