I’ve been eating at Cafe Rio since there was only 1 location and that was in Utah, so for over 20 years! I absolutely love their food! I’ve been to many locations throughout Utah, Nevada, California, Maryland and Virginia. The Ashburn, VA location definitely falls short. Their food isn’t as fresh and they do not make the meals the same way that other Cafe Rio locations do. For example, whenever I order a salad the employees never ask me if I would like cheese on the tortilla. They also never put cotija cheese on my salad and instead try to add a Mexican cheddar blend of grated cheese instead. It’s almost like I have to tell them how to make a Cafe Rio salad. Also you can tell that the employees do not regularly stir the sauces because there is always that dried out layer on the top and when they scoop the sauces into my burrito, that layer usually ends up in it. Like I mentioned above, I’ve been eating at Cafe Rio as various locations for over 20 years and this location does not meet the typical Cafe Rio expectations and experience that I’ve always had elsewhere. I’m very disappointed and would like to see changes because this is my local location now.
The food was great and all the staff were welcoming and kind, also the restaurant had a great layout and even better seating. 10/10 Would eat again

I am always greeted with friendly smiles and great service when I come to the Cafe Rio in Draper Utah. The food has always been fresh and delicious! This has become my favorite Cafe Rio!
I went in and made an order for take away. When I got home and opened the guacamole I ordered, the sticker from the avocado was inside. This is the first time something like this has happened and I'm hoping it does not happen again. The staff is not as nice or as diligent to their customers as they were when they first opened. I hoping they improve in the future

Is okay, small portions. Maybe increase the volume of the music to make up for the awkward atmosphere.
When we visit the grandkids they always want Cafe Rio tacos but this is the last time. Price vs quantity of ingredients has made future visits a negative. Uninterested staff and unclean store is a minus. Where is management? No way to keep the place open at this rate, in this economy.

I'm honestly shocked and appalled by my experience at Cafe Rio. It's clear that previous concerns about hygiene haven't been addressed at all. I couldn't even bring myself to eat the food I ordered; I ended up discarding it right in the parking lot. The last straw was witnessing a staff member, wearing only one glove, blatantly wiping his nose with his bare hand and then, without any regard for basic hygiene, touching the lid that went on my food. It was utterly disgusting and completely unacceptable!
