We were seated right away, but our server was very short with us and had no personality. The only option for the kids menu was American fast food, so we had to order a la carte for the kids.The salsa tasted like tomato sauce with salt. The meal came out fast but the beans and rice were bland. We were also surprised when we got our check that they added an automatic 20% tip to our check for a large party. We have 6 young well behaved children and they placed us at one normal size table they didn’t need to add any tables. That may be the reason the server didn’t care to have a nice personality because she knew she was already going to be getting the 20% tip. The place was clean but we don’t think we will ever be going back.

Loved the food! Everything was prepared so well, and the flavor was excellent, along with the portion sizes, including a pretty extensive lunch menu as well. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant itself was very festive and clean. I loved it, if you're looking for a good place for Mexican cuisine, definitely give this one a try, this has been one of the best experiences I've had in a Mexican restaurant while in Virginia.

The food was sub-par. The other El Charro locations in Harrisonburg are much better. I got a shrimp dish and my shrimp came still needing to be de-veined. So gross. And one of my shrimp still has a piece of the skin/tail. The server barely came to check on us so it’s not like I could get the issue fixed. Won’t be back.

My husband and I got lunch specials. Brought chips and salsa almost immediately. Thought price was reasonable at $8 each. Just had water to drink. He got a beef burrito and a chicken enchilada. I got a chicken chimichanga. Food was good, service was fast and friendly, not much atmosphere; but we were just looking for a quick lunch stop so it was fine for the purpose.

Stopped for a quick lunch. We ordered from the $8 lunch special menu. Food arrived quickly and was above average quality. Very pleased with the staff, the food and the price. We would eat here again.
