Every single thing we've had here has been absolutely delicious. Can't recommend enough. I would give 6 stars if I could.

For a wedding weekend brunch we reserved the outdoor area to enjoy with friends and family. Our experience was superb. The owner, Megan, was on hand and super helpful. The staff were very attentative and worked hard to accommodate my large party. And the food was awesome!! At some point it was too hot to sit outside and they offered us the chance to move inside and moved the food inside as well. They truly treated us like family and we couldn't ask for more. Can't express how much we appreciate everything they did for us. Can't wait to visit again!!

Unbelievable. The best mussels that I have had in my 54 years.

Although the Peri Peri wings are absolutely delightful, they're not enough to raise this rating beyond 3 stars. In general the food is good, but the wait staff is often slow to serve and I've never seen a custom order come out right- even when the custom order is simply an extra side of carrots! The outdoor bar area (which has swings!) is a great place to hang out and watch sports.

Heading to Nashville and stopped at this amazing restaurant. Cody our waiter made great suggestions. Got meat samosa, sadza cakes and Durban chicken. All of which were awesome.

This spot was recommended by our Airbnb host. The internet has been down so staff were working hard to catch up. We ordered drinks -- loved the passion fruit margarita and then I had sweet potato fries. Crispy and delicious with a side of ketchup and ranch. My friend had the salmon, which was good but only came with the salmon. The waitress asked if she wanted any sides, but it seems like for $18 you get only the salmon. The gluten free chocolate dessert was also good. It overall was good food, but seemed pricey for what you got.

Went last weekend. We had the chicken, sweet potato fries and an order of mussels. Service was good, wait time was good, drinks were good and food was great. Portions enough that had leftovers. Can't wait to go back.

Nice local place. Friendly staff, good casual vibe, well priced drinks and beers on tap. Play sport on TVs but usually college lacrosse (!). Never asked if they can change to NBA or something. Came for dinner and had periperi shrimp and south african style chicken, and boneless wings. Was decent.

I love South African food, especially the chicken. Highly recommend the lemon pepper and peri-peri wings. The staff are also pretty cool.

Inside or outside - your choice according to the outside hostess/waitress. We went inside - sign stating this section currently closed. Huh? Shouldn't she have known? Back outside. Atmosphere was uncomfortably hot. Only menu available was by scanning on smartphone. A lot of items that enticed us to try this restaurant were no longer offered. No real theme to the limited items available. Food was very good for the most part. Portion to value very pricey, particularly for the appetizers. Calamari was not as crispy as it should have been. Meat samosas were tasty, and accompanied by a delicious mango chutney. Salmon was cooked to perfection (for me) and had another delicious sauce. The shrimp peri peri was good, the side of rice was excellent. It was also served with grits, not mentioned on the menu, and a side of mango chutney. Glad we tried, but wouldn't go back.

Kerry(apologies if I misspelled her name, beautiful eyes and friendly, welcoming demeanor) is a master of her trade. Trivia night is a delight. Don't sleep on brunch when it returns. COVID had put a damper on so much, but the normalcy and safety have been refreshing and reassuring.

Incredibly rude server/manager? I'm not sure if she was just a waitress or the manager, but she said she was the manager. I can't imagine a business would actually let that person manage anything, so maybe she was lying so I didn't talk to the actual "manager". Regardless, this waitress/manager with neck tattoos and an extremely rude demeanor gave my party of 5 a lot of attitude and disputed the requests we'd made when we ordered entrees, including substituting jasmine rice for the grits type thing they normally service with the durban chicken. When everything came and I asked about the rice, I was accused of lying and being confrontational. I've been coming to the shebeen for years and love the owners (I think his name is Walker), so I was surprised to be treated so poorly. When we asked to divide the checks into a group of 2 an 3, she also said that it was against policy but that she'd "make a special exception since she knew we would tip so well". Ughh.. never again. So sad, this place used to be great.

I've been looking forward to trying Shebeen for a long time because South African food intrigued me. We ordered the Durban Spiced Chicken with creamy polenta, the Peri Peri Shrimp and the mussels as an appetizer. The food was all cooked and spiced perfectly, we were really satisfied. However, our service was less than the standard set by the food. We had asked for more bread with the mussels, and it was never brought out. When we mentioned it was forgotten, we didn't get an apology, or the bread. We would come back for the food only.
