Food was barely edible. The brisket was ok, needed salt and definitely not worth it being up charged an additional $3 for the portion and quality. The pulled pork was extremely dry, not even the sauces helped mask it.The sliced turkey was juicy but not seasoned with anything besides salt and extra salt.Corn bread was good but it’s more like a pound cake. The beans with sausage was ok, very sweet and not a lot of seasoning to it.Collard Greens were decent but still on the sweet side.I asked for the cheesy bacon potatoes and I got what looked like potato salad and didn’t even bother trying it.The sauces that are offered aren’t great.Spent $43 for two people all to take a few bites and realize it was a mistake to even come.Definitely not a true BBQ place or worth trying again. The cream soda there is pretty decent though!

Our table had the brisket, the ribs, the turkey, the pork bbq, the beans, the coleslaw, the shredded potato, the collards, and the of course the cornbread. 10/10 on everything. We even went back and got seconds on the fried chicken. You can’t find a better piece of fried chicken.

First time here, got take out. Got the chicken salad with broccoli salad. Very reasonable pricing. Chicken was seasoned just right. Loved the meal! Simple and delicious.

My car was being worked on across the street so I spotted this place and went in. Walked inside and it was empty, just myself and one other. I kept hearing how expensive it was but for my meal plus tip it was 20 bucks. I thought they were reasonable! The food was amazing! Especially the potatoe bun and the honey sweet sauce was delicious! The staff was friendly and asked if everything was ok. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was for a few reasons. 1. The seats were not wide enough. I weigh 160 and the bars were touching my sides if I was bigger I would have had to sit forward which would not be comfy. 2. The sweet and unsweetened tea were in bottles which at a bbq place they usually have brewed tea. So that was very disappointing. They had a soda machine but 3 out of 7 were out of order so limited drinks. Other than that I highly recommend this restraunt! Best bbq ive had since moving away from sonnys bbq in the south!

We stopped by Smoked Kitchen on Route 29 on our way into Charlottesville for a quick bite, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. I got the pulled chicken "Pick One", which was a tray with pulled chicken, two sides, cornbread, and a sauce of my choice. The pulled chicken itself was flavorful and moist. I got the VA blackberry sauce, which tasted pretty similar to a traditional barbecue sauce to me. For sides, I got the sweet potato fries and coleslaw. The sweet potato fries were good, but I wish there were more of them! They were well seasoned and nice and crispy. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw (I like vinegar based coleslaws, not mayo). I wouldn't have gotten it if there was an indication on the website that it was mayo based. The cornbread was standard, but a little on the sweet side for me. Our food was ready very quickly, and overall the portion sizes were great. We also got a jar of the homemade dill pickles to try, which were delicious. Overall, I recommend this spot if you are craving some BBQ in Charlottesville!

I have had some of their food years ago from their Crozet location and it was fantastic but it wasn't as convenient to order from that shop since I live in Charlottesville. I was happy to hear that they had a new shop in Cville and ordered some catering from them for an event. The food was perfect and my guests were going on and on about how great it was. IMHO it's some of the best BBQ in the region. They provided plenty of food for our party and then some, which we enjoyed for a few days afterwards. Highly recommend.

Can't really comment on the food because every time I pass by you're CLOSED. I've been to the one in Crozet and food was good. You would get ALOT more business if you'd extend your hours to 9 or 10. I've stopped looking that way when I pass now. Sad...

The food is great. The BBQ is done perfectly and the sauces are great. The Carolina Firewater is amazing a little kick with that southern touch of vinegar pairs amazingly with the pulled pork or brisket. The Collard greens are savory and almost smoky. Lovely. The cheesy potatoes is also an excellent side, it's comforting and offers a very nostalgic taste of southern cooking. The people are kind and efficient and eager to please. The atmosphere is cozy, rustic and very welcoming again adding to that old style Southern VA feel.Vegetarian options: There are certainty a few lovely vegetarian optionsDietary restrictions: They are always ready to meet dietary needs.Parking: Parking located directly in front of and to the side of building.Kid-friendliness: A wonderful family environmentWheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible by handicapped friends, and handicapped parking.
