Food was quick! Taste was not special, but everyday kind of eating. Went in for breakfast, but missed it by 20 minutes. The lemonade and limeade, A TOTAL HIT! Both were freshly squeezed and there were additional flavor add-ins available.

Nostalgic and takes me back to the time when I used to get lunch at the counter at Gray's pharmacy across from ODU. Also reminds me of my grandmother's soda fountain.

I love this place. Another hidden gem in the community. Great Limeades, delicious sandwiches and the she-crab soup is my favorite in town!

I will start this review by saying that I love the food here. The burgers are fresh and the fries hot. Today was unusual, as I have never had an issue with any previous orders and, while I am unhappy today, I will go back. My issue started when I opened my to go order at home. I ordered a burger and fries. When I went to pick up my burger, I felt something poke my thumb. I thought maybe the bun was a little stale, so I tried to pull the piece off. It took some effort, but I managed to pull the object out, which turned out to be a toothpick lengthwise through the bottom part of the bun. If I had picked up the burger differently, I would have bit into it. I immediately called Irwin's and after explaining the type of toothpick (the kind with frills on the end) and that the plastic end appeared to have melted somewhere inside the bun, they offered to remake the burger. I said I was really unable to leave work and asked just to have the item refunded. I was put on hold and when the person came back, they said they wanted to see the burger. Understandable, so I did go back. The person helping me apologized and refunded the burger. I asked if I could get another burger, she advised I should have mentioned it on the phone. She entered the order in the system and I sat at the counter. After about 15 minutes waiting, another worker asked if I had been helped. Turns out that even though the issue was their mistake, I was placed at the back of all the other orders despite my original order being placed one hour prior. The cook told the server to cash me out and when he tried to charge me for a club sandwich, I got frustrated and left. My main issue is that when faced with a partially melted toothpick inserted lengthwise into food and my requesting to have a burger made, preferably without potentially dangerous objects inserted, I got put into the back of the lunch rush. I have no idea how someone initially handled the bun and didn't notice the toothpick, but I will certainly be checking for the in the future.

This is a great place for a late breakfast or early lunch. Nothing has really chaged since I visited as a child or as my father visited when he was a kid. Its a small area in the rear of a drug store. Seats about 20-30. Make sure to try a float or milkshake. We normally just get burgers or hotdogs.
