My family and I visited the Shoney’s in Chesapeake today and I was soooo disappointed. The buffet was extremely limited, the chicken was unseasoned and dry, the sauces were dried up, the salads were pitiful, and there was no dessert on the buffet. The best thing about the meal was the drink. The staff was courteous and pleasant. They even gave us 10% off the check b/c we were not satisfied.

I like the setup but it was quite different the portions was about the same but there was a decrease and some of the food they served baked chicken fried chicken and extremely small Salisbury steak usually they have pork chops and fish but not today

Absolutely delicious food. Excellent service. We were really very pleasantly surprised. Our family was skeptical to try it because the parking lot looked empty at dinner time but I'm so thankful that we did!

I am not sure how safe it is to eat here. Today, the wife and I went there to eat breakfast. We got our first plate and was okay but then I was refused service to get more without a mask on. During the time I was sitting in the dining room, I notice the manager (cook) with no mask on while preparing the food. He did put a mask on to come out to say they would not serve me anymore unless I put my mark on. He told me he did not have to wear a mask while preparing food. I also notice all the waitress removing their masks and put them under their nose or chin when returning to the kitchen. But when coming out on the dining room floor they would put them back on.

Breakfast buffet had mo variety. What they did have wasn't worth the price. Breakfast at most hotel/motels are better. The offerings could be reflective of the times but businesses have to change with the times. Maybe they can incorporate the all-you-can-eat pricing with a plate-by-plate service.

Nice lunch today with my friend at an old go to, Shoney's. I decided to skip the buffet and went straight for the Mushroom Swiss Cheeseburger and Fries! Everything came out hot and fresh! Delicious! The buffet was opened but a worker filled your plate for you. Costumers cannot access the buffet but can let the worker know what to add to his or her plate. The breakfast and lunch/dinner menus had plenty to choose from. There is also outside seating for those choosing to do so. Salt and pepper and ketchup are served in packets, as well. Our waitress was busy doing what seemed like everything and still had a smile on her face :0) Two thumbs up all around!

Great service and great food. You need a face mask to go inside but can sit outside and eat without a mask. The buffet is open.

We have been going to Shoney's for many, many years. Love the seafood buffet, Senior Days, and Sunday brunch. Shoney's buffet is about quality, not quantity. The food is absolutely delicious and the bars are well stocked and clean. The staff is super friendly and always go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. Great people and great food are what makes Shoney's of Chesapeake one of our favorite restaurants.

Last time I ate here was with my mother in 2012 before she became mentally ill. I had to go to Stanley Jenning's Center last month for an ultrasound. Afterwards I decided to eat here for old times sake. Breakfast buffet is still good. Scrambled eggs, onions, and sausage still taste great.
