We ordered takeout yesterday after completing a grueling 20 mile hike at Pocahontas State Park. All we could think about was pizza and wings. Both were on point and hit the spot! We asked for light sauce and they understood the assignment. He had jokes when I picked it up, reading back my order and said "with extra sauce." Real funny! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and customer service.

Delicious food! Went in for lunch and had garlic knots, lasagna, stromboli and salads. Best grilled chicken I've had on a salad in a long time. Some people might disagree with me, but I love that their garlic knots aren't drowned in oil. Flavorful without being greasy, and the dipping sauce is SO good I want to take some home by itself for my own pasta. Lasagna was good, and stromboli was flavorful- the pepperoni has a great flavor. They also have EXCELLENT prices. Many things on the menu for lunch are $10 and you can't beat that for fresh food. Decent service and the restaurant could use an update, but we will be back to try something else.

Used to be my go to place for pizza delivery. Recently, the website no longer accepts my address for delivery and calling is not the greatest experience. I was ok with an extra charge to deliver to my home but I guess I will have to find another restaurant.

We were a little shocked to walk in exactly at noon on a Friday and see this restaurant completely empty. Because of that I can't say much about the service - it was quick and friendly but then again, there was no one else to attend to. We started with garlic knots, but no sooner had we ordered that the server brought us out hot rolls. I don't mean to complain, because those rolls were some of the best hot rolls I have ever had, but if we had known we were going to get bread to start we probably wouldn't have doubled up on the carbs right away! My friend got the lasagna with a side salad, and I got a small chicken ceasar salad and a pepperoni stromboli, planning ahead for leftovers. As we were waiting, the garlic knots came out, and they were delicious. Too many places drown their knots in oil, but these were fluffy with just a little oil and just enough garlic. The real star, though, was the sauce. The dipping sauce is to die for! I'd like to order a few jugs to keep at home for my own pasta. In the meantime, a gentleman came in to dine alone, but it was still empty and awkward. While waiting for the food, I started noticing some small issues. The decor could really use an update - the interior is bland and a little dingy. Dirty ceiling tiles. Old, sometimes stained silk flowers on the tables. Not every table had salt and pepper. There was no music playing, so it was very quiet. It needs a pop of color and some new decor to really make it homey and comfortable. I will say, though, that the kitchen and server areas looked spotless. The food came out fairly quickly and was, like the garlic knots, subtle and delicious. I had some of the best grilled chicken I've ever had on a salad. As for the lasagna, I thought the sauce was a little sour, but my friend said she enjoyed it. My stromboli was good, and their pepperoni had a nice flavor, but it was a little undercooked for my taste. It was strange - it looked crispy, but it wasn't. A little crunch would have really taken it over the top. All in all, I'm not sure why Dante's isn't more busy. Sure, the place needs a refresh, and the server could use a little more training on the menu and how to give really good customer service, but the food is delicious. I also forgot to mention the prices - Dante's prices are excellent. Many things are around $10 for lunch, and that's cheaper than most fast food! If you're in the area, pop in and give them a try. I'll definitely be going back to try some of their other offerings, like a wrap or a sub.
Dante's was the best pizza ever in Southside va. Best slices and subs. Dante is a cool dude. Always good and friendly. If you ever get a chance to speak with the owner do it..that guy is the truth. GREAT SLICES.Parking: PLENTY

In a pinch, I ordered a basic cheese calzone tonight. I've gotten this from Dante's before and it was possible. Tonight I knew I was in trouble when the person on the phone asked 'Do you want ricotta in it?" I was dumbfounded. I had to ask her to repeat the question, to which I responded that a calzone was mozzarella and ricotta cheese. What I ended up with is something that looks like a stromboli with vents cut in the top. It was severely overcooked. That's not a calzone. I am beyond pissed. There is NO decent Italian food in this shitty city.
