Drove over 5 miles and the place was closed due to renovation. There was no warning/indication on the internet search that the restaurant is closed. What a disappointment and inconvenience.

I ordered food for carryout a few months ago, noting some items were missing after I got home. Since I live more than 30 mins away, I didn't go back but called XO Taste to report the missing item. I was told that they could not give me a credit right away but they had recorded my phone number and credit card info, and had made a note to give me the credit when we place our next order. As I placed the order today, I was told that no credit could be given as they do not have records of the conversation. They said they would only entertain my request if I have the receipt. Since the receipt was stained with oil when I got the food, I didn't keep it. I told them so and said I could show them the credit card transaction record. Yet, they still disagreed and said there is nothing they can do. Our order was incomplete and we cannot get our money back. This is truly bad customer service.

Flavorless, bland, underwhelming, disappointing. Like platters of warm tears. Haven't been this let down by a culinary experience outside my own kitchen in my life, barring perhaps hospital. How does it stay open? People actually come back to this place after the first awful try? I truly want to know how anyone considered this slop worth serving.

Very disappointing, my mom and I ordered from Ubereats and it's extremely small portion. I understand that due to COVID, portions may be small and prices will raise. However, the food doesn't taste that good to be worth the price. Half a Peking duck is $25 and the sauce is just not at it. I've eaten so many Peking ducks at many different restaurants and I absolutely do not recommend ordering the ducks and chickens at this restaurant. For the price of both, I don't think it's worth it. I believe that they probably have other dishes that taste better but just don't order these two. I give 2 stars simply because the taste is ok and it's not like horrible. The sauce for the ginger scallion chicken isn't good either. It's lack of flavor and fragrance. I hope that in the future, when I give them a second chance, other dishes will be decent at least.

Maybe it was a one time thing but idk, all I know is I ordered food, the lady was rude and my food was nothing to what is should’ve been. It was watered down which I don’t understand way there was broccoli in my orange chicken. I asked for orange chicken and white chicken. The broccoli watered down the chicken didn’t orange chicken it tasted like onions which grossed me out.

Meh. Not terrible. Not great. Hot & sour soup is pretty bland. You could do worse. You could do better...maybe. Good Chinese food is tough to come by in these parts.

I'm not sure when XO changed ownership, but we could definitely taste a difference in the food the last two times we carried out food from here. A lot of items on the old menu are no longer available and the portions are a lot smaller now as well. The reason for the two stars is also due to the staff not checking for all items before they give it to the customers. We were missing over $50 worth of items from our order and another friend who ordered the same day was missing an item as well. Make sure you check for all your items at the store before you leave if you have a larger order.

I came back after a year or so & I'm sure it's now under a new management/owner. The restaurant was empty (it's common during pandemic). I ordered 4 shrimp wonton noodle soups and 1lb of roasted pork togo; There were 2 customers came after me to pick up their small orders. I wondered why it took about 30 mins for my order to come out. Came home, opened the food and it looked quite disappointing (little wontons & 2 stems of green veggies). Wontons and roasted pork didn't taste as good as they were under previous owner. Slow service, food was not as good. Will I come back? Certainly NOT.

I come up to nova quite frequently, and we always stop by this place for Chinese food. Last night was the last time I will ever set foot in that place. I called and placed an order totaling around $83. I specifically asked if our dishes will come with rice. We got to our hotel and there is no rice. I called the restaurant, and the "manager" tells me she's pretty sure the rice was out in there. She tells me to bring ALL the food back so she can check. You better believe I am pretty upset (after a long drive and long day of hiking) because we were starving. I ask her 3-4 more times to verify that she is asking me to bring everything back and she says yes. I reason with her and ask if I can take pictures because 1) my son was already eating and we had plated lots of the food already. She repeatedly says that she needs me to come back and check because she is on camera and will get in trouble for giving away free food. At this point I'm pretty angry already. OVER RICE? I paid almost $100 at your crappy restaurant and you want to make me drive all the way back (10 minutes in horrendous traffic)? My husband and I get to the restaurant and this lady straight up LIED!! You were on speaker in front of my entire family. She tells me that I didn't need to bring all the food and only the ones I wanted a refund for. That makes ZERO sense because I asked for rice only, but how can you refund me for something I didn't get? There is no camera there to verify what was in my bag. If this woman had any decency she would have just given us the rice. If I'm going to spend nearly $100 I'm not going to lie and try to get some free rice! Also the food quality has gone down hill. The vegetables for the stir fry chances broccoli was still raw and the pan fried beef noodles tasted like water and sugar with almost no toppings. The crispy pig sucked because it was soggy. I returned the food and got a refund. I left pretty upset and wasted nearly 2 hours with this fiasco. OVER some rice?? Never again. I went to a different restaurant with the name "Pearl" something in it. I ordered the same exact dishes and the food was 1020% better and the customer service was SOOO good!!! They even had much better COVID cleaning practices there.

This restaurant is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I want to go to a superb meal, this is the place that comes straightaway to my head. extremely good and many types of food and a rich menu.professional staff, and pleasant spirit. Not less important, the charge is reasonable. I praise this restaurant with pleasure.

Absolutely a place worth trying, the food is fantastic and well prepared, the pricing is affordable and it is regularly well organized there. 5 stars.

Ummmmm... I’m not sure what happened but X.O. either fired the cook or switched management. I’ve been coming here for years off and on but never has my food tasted this bad! Where do I start? The roast duck was old, I ordered spicy shrimp with the head on and it wasn’t spicy at all. The pork soup was just the bbq pork thrown in with some broth & noodles? I also ordered an app of tempura shrimp and they just brought out fried shrimp no tempura dipping sauce! Horrible experience and may never return?

Good Cantonese food, fast service, convenient pickup during the pandemic. I've ordered from here several times and will keep coming back. The clams in black bean sauce and the Singapore noodles are tasty and very generous servings. I also really like the lobster--a nice, decadent treat. I've also had the roast duck and pork, both quite good. The house soup with crab is another favorite of mine. Picking up is easy. Pull up to the restaurant and they have the carryout bags ready inside, or someone may even just bring it out to you. Very limited contact. I felt very safe with the handling of the pickup. They may also offer delivery, but I haven't tried that. Keep in mind that Cantonese food is hard to find in the DMV, especially in Northern Virginia. There are a few dim sum places, but don't compare the offerings here to cities like New York or San a Francisco. That's why I'm glad X.O. Taste is around when I'm really craving dishes I can't get at other Chinese food spots.

I can honestly say I've never had Chinese food this good in the US. My favorite digs are in Copenhagen and Vancouver where I've had amazing Chinese food. X.O. - their crab angle was full of filling and not all wonton, the Singapore rice noodles - perfect. Fried pot stickers - excellent - except they ONLY give you 3. 3? I haven't tried the double cooked pork yet but it looks and smells amazing. My only beefs - they're skimpy on the crab angle and dumpling servings, really skimpy. They don't deliver spicy mustard (at least not with my order) and that's an important item for me. I will definitely order from them again and request spicy mustard next time and order more dumpings - since they ONLY give you 3.....sad x.o. share more dumplings. You can do better.
