Mason-Dixon Cafe has two locations. I have eaten at both. The service at both was good. I wish I could say the same for the food. I had breakfast at the downtown site. I ordered sausage gravy and biscuits. with an egg. My food was served luke warm. The sausage gravy had, what I would describe as a massive amount of black pepper. which was just about the only seasoning I could identify. I'm not a big fan of black , pepper, at least in large quantities. Hardees, down the street does a better job. I vowed to never eat theree again. A year or so later, I was near Stafford courthouse on business, There wasn't much to choose from for lunch, so I thought I'd try their second location. I decided on a chili dog, as I hadn't had one in a long time. I don't know what the stuff they called "chili" was, but I've never had real chili with fruit in it before. I managed to scrape the stuff off, but, the flavor lingered, making my lunch virtually unpalatable. I remained civil, but when asked how I liked the food, I had to say " it wasn't very good." Needless to say, I won't be frequenting either of their establishments, in the future.

Great spot to grab something to eat and drink. Most staff was friendly - the hostess and server with blonde hair and glasses were great. They kept our family, with little ones, updated on the wait and were really kind trying to get us an accommodating table. The server we were supposed to have, (a woman with black short curly hair and leg tattoos), was a complete j**** She didn’t want our table from the beginning and was complaining that we were going to be a fire hazard where we were sitting. We shuffled stuff around and I said “is this ok?” And she gave me the NASTIEST look and walked away…needless to say she then gave our table to our wonderful blonde haired server (wish it knew names bc they deserve recognition), and she was super nice and we enjoyed our experience with her. So all in all, I’d recommend this place but they should really cut their ties with the rude server who clearly has no customer service skills and, if we hadn’t had a good experience with the hostess and server, we would’ve left bc of her poor attitude, so she’s making them lose business.

I have read reviews and the parking lot for Mason Dixon the night before was pretty packed. We thought we would give it a try for breakfast. Pulled into the lot and realized that it was not opened yet. It was 8:30 Friday morning and they didn't open till 9AM. Lack of help, adjusted hours due to "things"? We didn't wait around to find out. Disappointed to say the least but I would think if you are opened for breakfast it should be a bit earlier than 9 AM.

Was unable to have a meal to review because we stood in line with another couple waiting to be seated and was told it would be a couple of minutes and then the next person came and told us that they were not seating any more customers; however, the couple in front of us didn't have to leave the restaurant. We thought the Mason Dixon staff could have handled this situation better. Not likely to try this place after the poor customer service.

On our way back from Richmond for a night away, my wife and I were searching for a place to have a hearty breakfast. She came upon this place in Fredericksburg where apparently all the locals eat. I'm not kidding when I say that. We walked in for a table and the place was packed, shortly after it opened at 9 AM. Tons of space inside and outside on their patio. Lots of parking. This place is awesome. My wife had the eggs and potatoes. I went with the french toast with the cardamom butter and two scrambled eggs. WOW! Not just a good breakfast, this was truly a unique breakfast with fresh ingredients. The fact that the place was completely packed with locals, some of whom told us that they are regulars, and each time they are there, the place is jammed. Fantastic find! Truly a gem off the beaten path. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Jess was our server. You would think the place wasn't busy at all. She had a good number of tables, but she treated us like we were her only customers. Attentive, very on top of things, came back to check on us often, cordial and very friendly. Tons of KETO-friendly options as well. Kids menu. You can eat here all day. Appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, burgers and melts, hot dogs, eggs all day, lots of options for sides. The menu goes on and on and on. This place was awesome and if we lived closer, we'd be back more often. Great job Mason-Dixon Cafe!

We had a decent breakfast here. It seems like this place aspires to be more, which is nice, but ends up short in some respects. The space itself is small and, with it being chilly outside, ends up cold as well with the doors being opened / closed. We waited 45 minutes for a table and it was a bit frustrating to sit there and see un-bused tables sit around for 5-10 minutes between customers while we waited. They need a bigger space.

Fabulous combinations make this a special spot to visit,. Get reservations or takeout to avoid long wait. Yummy sweet potato tots, interesting variation on chicken salad. Good tasting Rueben sandwich. Chili cheese dog was delightful. Grilled cheese is melty goodness with crisp bread - not soggy. Omelet was perfectly cooked to order.

This neat little cafe has a lot to offer; breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. Nice, relaxed atmosphere to dine either inside and out, with heaters to take the chill off. Good variety of hot dogs with a good meat to bun to toppings ratio. Shrimp and grits was also very good. Wish we weren't driving so we could've tried some of the different mimosa combinations.

I loved the look of this place - simple, colorful, and so much style! The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. The menu is extensive and the food is the best I've had in ages. Prices were really good, the music was great, and the location was super convenient. I only wish we could go there all the time.

Local haunt. Thought it would be fantastic. However, mediocre breakfast. Long wait time. Crowded and packed. Staff excellent. Will skip this place at our next visit.

I have never been disappointed with the food and drinks here. It's a favorite for brunch. Do have reservations for brunch, it gets busy.

This place is in what appears to be a 1950's or 60's burger joint building. The food is far different from what that promises. Large menu with a lot of selection. Family-friendly with something to please everyone. Only downside is that with such a large menu, things can be hit or miss. Shrimp and grits was not up to what you'd get in South Carolina (over-seasoned with too few shrimp), but other items we had (a Rachael sandwich and a spinach salad with artisan Virginia bacon) were excellent.

“They must have switched the tickets” was all we heard after an hour of waiting for our food. The table of 6 next to us came 30 mins after we had ordered our food, mind you we were a table of 4, and got their food before we did. We ordered simple meals, and no appetizers that would slow the main course coming out. Food was pretty good but not that good after waiting an hour. If there was any offer from them to make amends or discount something, I would consider going again, but there was not.

Even though I have lived around Fredericksburg for more than half my life I ate here for the first time this summer. It's called the cafe "where the locals eat" and for good reason; the food is delicious and all of the servers were very nice and hospitable. I got the farmhouse burger with a side of the baked macaroni and cheese and my friend got a half stack of pancakes. When they say the pancakes are huge they are not kidding! My burger was delicious, but I felt the macaroni and cheese was lacking flavor, so I probably wouldn't get it again. I plan on coming back again to try out their breakfast options, especially since they serve breakfast all day.

Pre noon dining. We haven't been here since they opened years ago but opted to give it another try. Menu is extensive with the inclusion of all day breakfast. No actual tarter sauce available for fish/seafood offerings. Waitress was attentive and meal served promptly. The place was NOT clean. Windows were filthy inside/out and the air supply vents were just nasty. *That's blowing down on you and your food. Shrimp and grits was more like shrimp/grits soup. Taste was ok but had way to much sauce as compared to a true SC recipe. Steak melt was ok as were the steak fries. Nothing exceptional. At almost $28.00 for a simple lunch for two it's way overpriced. Fine dining at Firebirds for that $. Will not return. *Note this review was completed without using ridiculous undiscriptive terms like OMG, awesome, yummy, delish, to die for, do your self a favor, trust me, etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No one cares about the waiter/waitress names, their abilities, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. No we don't care about your allergies or the need for gluten free food.
