I joined friends for dinner here a few months back. I had the cod entree, which was decent, but the tiny amount of potatoes that came with it was pretty disappointing... I mean, they're potatoes - - not a pricey food. One of my dining companions had the rockfish. The menu stated that it was served on a risotto. She offered to let me try it and the fish was extremely fishy-tasting in a not-good way, plus the so-called risotto was more like a root vegetable mash and cold. Hard & cold, for $31. The service was extremely lackadaisical. The waiter opened our wine and left the foil in a ragged tear hanging down from the neck of the bottle. She never came back to refill us, even though it wasn't very busy, so she didn't have to deal with the dripping bottle. She left the dirty dishes on the table in front of us, and only removed a couple when she brought our dessert. They charged a "Non Cash Adjustment" of over $7 because we paid with a credit card vice cash, something that wasn't mentioned either on the website or when taking our order. All in all, not a great experience and we won't go back. There are better and more reasonably-priced places to eat in Old Town.

I wish I had more time to write this review. We meet some friends here that we hadn't seen in a few years and besides the great company our server read the table very well all night. His timing on taking our orders blended perfectly with our conversations. Then his dinner reccomendations were the highlight, the dishes we all decided on where based on his descriptive explanations of each dish and they were spot on when our food arrived. This place deserves 6 stars.

It was a fine experience. The service was good and everything was great until the entrees. My steak was super dry. The roasted vegetables were rather boring. It wasn't a bad experience, but nothing that would surprise you.

Food was absolutely amazing. Excellent cocktail and wine selection. They had good beer but very limited draft options.

So beyond disappointed. This place has top reviews and it didnt live up to a single one- lacking service, awful food, poor management. We made our way to the host stand and were greeted after standing for quite some time with an attitude of annoyance. We were seated and ordered drinks from an individual who wasnt our waiter. After ordering our food we saw our waitress 2 other times the rest of the night. We ordered the brie and soups. The brie came out and bread followed about 10 minutes later. We received our soups about 40 minutes later that I would compare to that of applebees. We expected so much more of a private owned resturant. After waiting for an hour and a half for our food I tried to find our waitress to get our food to go. She couldnt be found. Our food finally came out at an hour 40minutes. We asked for it to be boxed so we could leave. The entire time we were attempting to enjoy our experience waiters were walking by complaining about customers or other things. Do that type of stuff in the kitchen. The ambiance was chaos. When we finally made it home with our food my midrare steak was burnt. So much so it ruined the flavor and could not be eaten.I have no problem paying for a nice meal but i would recieved better service and better food for $200 at any chain resturant in town.WILL NOT RETURN. THIS PLACE IS A SHAME.

Cute place. Calamari good, brie meh, salmon greasy and overcooked. The two others with me liked their food more.

Incredible experience with great food. Our server, Aaron, was amazing. He could name every wine and recommended an amazing pinot. I honestly was so impressed with the team there; it was a busy night but they were on it! I'm from Richmond, but will definitely come back.

Best restaurants in Fredericksburg my favorite for over 20yrsOnly 1 time in 20 yrs steak wasn't perfect I told the waitress not to complain but to tell her that that was a pretty good record she went and told the owner he came out and offered me a free steak the next time I came. I told him that wasn't necessary. So if you want a good meal go here. I recommend the fillet bernaise or the stuffed shrimp and you can't go wrong with the brie cheese.

having dined at this establishment for decades this last trip was very disappointing. the service was fine though they were overly booked so waitstaff had to really hustle to keep up so one felt that lack of relaxation. hors d'oeurves were fine... but the most disappointing thing was the main course I ordered was inedible- stuffed flounder that tasted off- strange tasting... didn't want mention it to my host so as to ruin our evening so I let it go. but if a restaurant touts their reputation on seafood then they need to go back to buying quality fish and crabmeat.

Alright, so I heard a lot of hype about this place and my husband brought me for my birthday. Maybe I shouldn't have had expectations. Either way this is my honest review.. The staff greeted my husband and I and sat us down right away. Our waitress (middle aged woman) sadly I don't remember her name. She was nice, although she seemed a bit overwhelmed. She didn't ask if we were celebrating anything and barely made eye contact. Anyway, we ordered Pate and Brie to start a couple Martinis. My husband was very specific about his Martini (bone dry, no vermouth) our waitress didn't ask preference of vodka but my husband also didn't think to say anything (his mistake). He muscled through the Martini and ordered a 2nd (hoping it would be better) with Belvedere. It wasn't. I ordered a Chai Martini, asked for it not to be too sweet. It was very sweet, then I ordered an Apple Cider Bourbon which sounded good asked not too sweet. It came and all I could taste was alcohol, husband tried it and said the same thing (maybe Bourbon isn't our thing). We ordered Torchon Foie Gras (paté) and baked Brie, they were ok. Pretty straightforward items, nothing special. We got our entrees after eating an entire basket of bread. (We were hungry) My husband's dish was visually nice but tasted just ok. The fish was mellow, not any special flavor and his risotto was room tempt to me but cold for him. My veal cordon bleu was delicious, the scalloped potatoes were ok. All our veggies were pretty good. I ordered a red sangria and that was good. I was full, so no room for dessert but we took a creme brûlée to go. We did taste it a bit and it was delicious. Overall the food wasn't bad but the feeling and ambiance was just ok for a "fine dining" establishment.
