The food here is amazing! We smelled the food and followed our nose. We were not disappointed! We got the Jerk Chicken, rice and peas, and Mac and cheese and everything was so good!!! The chicken was so juicy and tender it was falling off the bone. We will be going back.Kid-friendliness: The lady behind the counter was so nice to my kid. She even let us make a last minute substitution because my kid kept asking for Mac and cheese.

I mean for the price of the food you would think that the food would be hot for starters. It wasn’t and for 21-25 dollars for dinner is beyond me and it’s a small. Also the yams are horrible. Would not recommend as carribean food as even a 3 .Better yet I do because of the hospitality of them accommodating me for the inconvenience. The food is a 2 out of 10.

I had to give it 3 stars. I wanted to like it but I just wasn't happy. The person that waited on me was a sweetheart which is reason for the 3 stars. I ordered both Jerk & Curry Chicken with rice & mac n cheese. Not sure why but the Jerk and Mac n Cheese were sweet. I hate sugar in my food. And I don't have a clue who thought sweet Mac n Cheese would be a good thing. I picked out the Curry Chicken chunks as it was the only thing that was appealing to my taste buds. Sugar is not meant to be in Mac n Cheese or Jerk Sauce! Had my mouth ready for some good jerk chicken and got disappointed yet again!

My fiancee' and I enjoy visiting Sunsplash regularly. The food is delicious and the service is good. Our favorite dishes are the oxtails, cabbage, and rice and peas. The prices seem to be unstable. Not sure of how much the items cost. We visited the other day and was told the prices had gone up (again).

Hands ?? down this is the BEST Caribbean restaurant in Hampton and Newport News!!! I swear they are getting their seasonings straight from Jamaica lol. This was me and my daughter’s first time eating here and we was so hungry ? lol. We was greeted with such a beautiful smile and a wonderful welcome. I forgot her name but she gave us amazing customer service. The wait wasn’t long and the prices seem reasonable for the way the food tasted. Big portions and full of so many flavors that burst in your mouth. I have eaten at every so-called Caribbean restaurants in this area and none has ever touch this place. I thought it was new but she told us that they been there for years. How I over looked this place idk ??♀️ but I’m glad we found it. Definitely be back

I got the curried goat, cabbage and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese was served to me a dry block and was very disappointing. It seemed like an afterthought to the cooks, or maybe I just came at a bad time... But the goat was great and I definitely recommend it. Don't get the macaroni.

The food here is seriously great tasting but it’s not consistent. Sometimes you get items and sometimes you don’t like rice and beans. The jerk used to be pretty good but lately it has more of a bar bbq flavor to it. Still good but not jerk.
