Drinks were fantastic, but food was unsatisfactory as salt seemed to be their only seasoning of choice and the chef was heavy handed. Basically, the dishes were salt and a side of whatever we ordered as a group. Service didn’t really seem to care about the quality of the food once they saw us eating it after we informed the staff about the taste of our dishes. I would come back for the drinks and ambience, but only that with no food orders at all.

Just tried the new spring menu and it was excellent. Staff is welcoming and very professional. I'd give more stars, if I could.

We have been here multiple times. The food and drinks are decent and the music is nice. I don't think I'll return though because we asked for some melted butter because my mom didn't like the curry sauce on the mussels and were told NO and the previous time I asked for a little extra hollandaise sauce and was told NO as well. If you go to a more upscale restaurant, they should be more accommodating for such a small request with the money you are spending there. This really turned me off and I won't be returning.

I was visiting the town on Hampton for business and looking for a nice place to eat. It was Saturday so I called the Bakers Wife to see if they had availability. The hostess I spoke with said I did not need a reservation and to come in. I was there in less than 5 minutes. As soon as I got there the woman at the entrance asked if I had a reservation. 1st ? ??????????I don’t typically proceed after I sense stupidity because my time and money are valuable. However my family was hungry so I allowed them to seat me.it was awkward and cumbersome and the second.?????????????The waiter started out doing everything in his power to be obnoxious towards us. I’m not exactly sure why and don’t make it a habit to ask strangers if they are racist or on drugs but he was initially nasty and I watched him be very cordial and hospitable to everyone else around. I had to ask for the specials and soup as well as for a menu. What a terrible human being. ????????????Lastly, the food was not great ant all and borderline confusing. They had sorghum salad dressing that tasted like apple cider vinegar and they substituted maltodextrin powder on the truffle fries to avoid using truffle oil. What a weird and unnecessary alteration. They are careless with fish roe and just sprinkle it on everything. This restaurant may be a nice place in Hampton but it definitely is ?️ for anyone who has had a relatively decent dining experience in life.

We visited for our tenth anniversary date. We did not reserve the most expensive table but that did not matter. Great atmosphere and wait staff. Patrick was on point and honest even if he had to check his notebook to make sure he explained the menu options properly. If the ownership puts that much effort into highering staff like that, it says alot. Not to mention his hardy handshake and genuine thanks when he was done serving us. Food was a generous proportion and we were not hounded every 3 minutes. We felt like we were there on our own time and that we would be taken care of. Highly recommend.

The service and atmosphere were excellent. The portions were beyond small. We had the filet mignon and duck. The duck came with toddler sized potatoes and apple cubes. Our mushroom appetizer was delicious. But considering the cost and portion size, I do not recommend this place. We did not leave full at all.

The Baker's Wife Bistro & Bar weaves the elegance of traditional French cuisine into the everyday esthetic of a neighborhood restaurant. This Phoebus restaurant has a beautiful upscale environment, but is not stuffy, and features high quality, classic cuisine. The Bakers's Wife offers a selection of creative, seasonal dishes that showcase the chef's talents. The food is simple yet delicious, with intense flavors and recipes that may change frequently depending on what is fresh and in season. If you are looking for a relaxed and romantic dining experience, you should check this place out.

My sister had her 30th bday celebration here. We had a pretty big party so we were only able to order from a certain menu! The prices were pretty hefty and of course we had to pay 20% gratuity, which I don’t mind. The issue is we were surrounded by fruit flies, the drinks were not very good, and we didn’t get our food for almost 2 hours after our reservation. To top it off, I only ate half of my food and the waitress said she would bag it for me and I can get it on my way out. I turn my ticket in and my food is nowhere to be found. Turns out they gave it to another person in our party and they wanted me to find them. After paying almost $200 for a meal and a bottle of wine for one person, they asked me what did I want them to do because they were out of chicken. I was then told that they could try to find something for me. At this point, I just walked out. I came from Florida to celebrate with my sister, only to be treated like trash. I will say the waitress that I had was really good and personable but I will not be back to this bistro.Update: The response that the owner gave is my friend grabbed my food when they specifically boxed my food and gave me a number so that I can pick up my food, so no they didn’t grab my food, you gave the incorrect food to the incorrect party! I had no friends at that party because I came from Florida, and you did not take accountability for your wrong-doing after I paid $113 for a meal I barely ate and you all gave away. If I would’ve been able to box my own food there would not have been a problem, but this is the result of an error your team made. Way to try to gaslight me, when the error was made on your behalf and you knew about the party of 23 way before we had gotten there. We got there at 7 and didn’t eat dinner until 8:37. If that’s fast, I’m very happy that I don’t live in Hampton.

This restaurant graciously hosted our neighborhood for a wonderful evening out of fun, great food, and an amazing jazz band -- what a treat! Highly recommend as a unique restaurant with a menu and quality of food you won't find elsewhere. The Brussels sprouts were a huge hit - absolutely delicious, and the wait staff were friendly and owner Dana made us feel so welcome. Will definitely be back for date night!
