This is the best bakery in Harrisonburg. Anytime I need a sweet treat or a cake for a celebration I know that I’m coming here! I’ve been coming to this bakery since they opened and am consistently and continually excited and delighted by the treats they make. My experience here has always been overwhelming positive. The owners, Erica & Alicia, are top-notch bakers and also wonderful and kind people. If you need a lil treat, a cake, a pie, cookies, I highly recommend ordering from Bittersweet! You’ll never be disappointed.

I’ve never eaten anything from Bittersweet Bakery that wasn’t absolutely delicious. The recently made my wedding cake and a few dozen macarons, all of which were fantastic. The cake was beautiful (the butter cream is out of this world) and the macarons were a huge hit. Erica was wonderful to work with and really brought my vision to life!

They are very organized and most importantly easy to get in touch with! The cupcakes and cakes looked beautiful, the delivered on all ends of what we had asked for! I highly recommend them!

We wanted to do a dessert spread rather than all cake, and they helped us pick out cake balls, cupcakes, and cookies. Many guests came up to us raving about how good everything was. Would give 10 stars if I could. I trusted a recommendation from a family member and ordered a red velvet birthday cake via email/online. It was the most gorgeous creation! As mentioned by all 25 of us, it was the best cake they've ever eaten. Cake perfectly moist and delightful texture. Frosting was just the right amount of sweet. I didn't see anyone scraping off frosting, like they sometimes do. Highly skilled decoration and calligraphy-like writing on top. Thank you to Erica and her crew. PERFECT!!!!!

Bittersweet bakery just did my wedding cake on 10/1. We ordered a cake from them and cookies. Everything was a hit. Originally my father was going to bake my wedding cake and three weeks before the wedding he decided he was no longer going to do it.Bittersweet bakery really stepped up to the plate. Not only was the cake absolutely delicious but their arrangement of flowers on the cake was absolutely stunning.Everyone loved the cookies. They were so good. At first we were unsure about cookies instead of another type of dessert but they were completely worth it.

This was my first time working with Bittersweet Bakery and will not be my last. Erica was great at communicating and designed the perfect Elmo cake—exactly what I was envisioning. To top it off the cake was absolutely delicious! The white icing is soft and whipped, and the lemon cake with raspberry filling was to die for. The 8" cake cut into small slices easily fed 25 people, which was surprising. Thank you so much!
