It was only OK. Nothing "wow" 'd me. Our entire meal there was a guy on a video call being loud. Of course this isn't anyone's fault except the rude, un thoughtful patron. The chips were extremely hard. We asked for Pico and when it was delivered we were shocked when we realized that we had to mix it ourselves. Just a disappointing experience.

I ordered shrimp fajitas to go.Nice-sized shrimp, but they tasted like they were six months old! Green peppers so hard I couldn't eat them!Thru the whole meal in the garbage.

I'm writingfrom the experience of going through the drive thru window since I have not yet been inside (and why I gave atmospere a 3 star rating). I used to live in Harrisonburg in the 90's and El Charro was the go to place for Mexican back then. I'm pleased that it has retained it's good quality and tasty food - and absolutely love the drive thru window - great idea.

I love it here. I always get the nachos supremos because it is such a big plate with a perfect cheese sauce beans tomatoes guacamole and all the normal nachos stuff. Service was wonderful and great place.
I stayed at the Howard Johnson's behind this place and had no car, so I was limited and it was within easy walking distance. I ate there several times in my short visit to my brother, and got him a meal there, too. He ate every bite, and scraped the plate with his chips! chuckle. The food was very good. I don't remember all the different things I got, but they were mostly vegetarian and tasty. I was never drawn to try other nearby places such as Wendy's and Taco Bell, which have predictable menus. The Howard Johnson's had a few things to complain about (not much, really) but this restaurant wasn't one of them. If my life permits me to go to Harrisonburg again, I will stay at HoJo again, and I will certainly eat at El Charro. The service was fast and friendly, the food was good and inexpensive, and the ambiance was certainly just fine! Thanks, El Charro.
