Went to celebrate a special occassion and ended up with the worst meal I have ever had in Harrisonburg. (1) The waiter went to fill our glasses with Processco, and ended up overflowing one glass and hardly putting any in another.(2) The pork chop was dry, tasteless, and difficult to chew. (3) The rice was not cooked, so some was crunchy/uncooked. (4) The underside of the dishes was dirty. (5) The vegetables of the day were not as described (different vegetables). (6) The house salad was just a stack of lettuce with some onions and yellow tomatoes; dressing was forgotten on the strawberry salad. The service was poor. I love the food at everywhere else I have eaten in Harrisonburg, so this was quite a surprise/disappointment.

Our table was in a high traffic area behind(!) the register/work area. Half the tables were not being used. Could have swapped one out. Shouldn’t even be a table in the spot we occupied. Steak was good. Mashed potatoes were cold. I would have ordered a salad but the waiter didn’t ask. Wine was very good. Service was inattentive. (Maybe just too busy). Three stars was generous.

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Montpelier Restaurant and Bar for Valentine's Day, and it was an absolute delight. We consider ourselves foodies of local restaurants, joking that it's our hobby, and Monty's truly exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional, showcasing flavors that left us craving more. But what truly stood out was the impeccable service. Despite my pregnancy limiting my cocktail options, the staff went above and beyond to craft a special mocktail that still felt festive. I even broke my no-leftovers rule because the dishes were just too good to leave behind. The kitchen graciously provided extra sauce for my meal, ensuring that I could enjoy it just as much at home. It took everything in me not to lick my plate in the restaurant! Their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction left a lasting impression. Needless to say, we'll be returning with friends and family in tow. Highly recommended!Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options as well

I found the service excellent, the space very nice, the food was ok, the dessert, which we took to go, was absolutely inedible. We also had asked to move to a quieter corner and they did move us, however, they asked the ladies sitting next to us to move to our spot to keep a 4 top open, that was never used. I felt terrible for asking to move then. We only wanted to move because of my hearing aids.

Some friends and I drove over from Charlottesville on November 1st to attend a program at the Forbes Theater. We made reservations at Monty's, at my suggestion. We wanted to grab a bite before the 8 pm show. Some of the food was actually inedible. My fries were so greasy and heavily salted, that I did not eat most of them. The same for my two friends. One of my friends ordered a chicken sandwich that he said the same thing about.--overly salted. He did not eat most of it. Salt preferences are varied due to both taste and health concerns. Salt can always be added at the table by the diner, but it cannot be removed. The kitchen staff should be made aware of this and stop adding so much that people grimace when we bite into our food.

Bar review only- Great cocktails with fresh ingredients! Tried multiple drinks and they were all good. Bartender was very friendly.

Good location. The food was good. The fish and chips were just OK. I would not order them again. The fries were not what I was expecting, more like fried potatoe wedges that were undercooked.

Definitely a great hotel restaurant but still it’s a hotel restaurant. That being said the food was very good. The atmosphere was a little different when we went but could have just been a slow night.

Highly rated on Google. Heart was set on the Shrimp & Grits displayed on their online menu. Dish was not available on the restaurant menu.Ceasar salad with scratch dressing was tasty, but wished it had more body, romaine was not limp. Salad was shredded parmesan, parmesan crisp, and romaine with dressings, it just seemed one sided nothing to elevate the salad."We have a full bar, we can literally make anything". I asked for a jalapeño-hot range spicy Margarita with any Blanco or silver tequila. Drink consisted of lemon lime sour mix and maybe 1/2 shot tequila. Bartender did not have anything to add spice so used Pepporchi Peppers instead.Sirloin steak for dinner, rare cold blue, I asked if they could include chared or raw hot peppers with the steak, was reassured yes. Server said the kitchen overcooked the first steak and had to remake. I was served a pre-sliced steak that was shingled on the plate topped with julienne red bell, jalapeño, and pepporchi peppers. I asked the server why my steak was pre-sliced, he said that's how they always serve the steak. ? No that's how you (the restaurant) save money serving steak.Throughly disappointed wished I dined elsewhere. The hotel was such an exceptional stay and experience two separate times, though with such rave reviews the hotel restaurant would be the same. Stay there eat somewhere else.

Food has taken awhile but the food was large portions and the prices were reasonable. Their dessert is fantastic and would.recommend the cheesecake.

Pretty disappointing. Presentation was good but food was barely ok. The trout was cold and the chicken over cooked. For being the only table we could see in the restaurant, service was extremely slow.

Delicious meal inside the Madison hotel. Had the crab dip served with grilled naan as an appetizer the entree of the steak and the fish/chips. Both were delicious.

This place is definitely a restaurant that is mostly serving the people staying at hotel Madison. I was sitting at the hotel with Work and me and my colleagues went to eat at this restaurant because it was convenient, and the menu looked good. I was not very hungry so I just got the Caesar salad and the French onion soup. Both dishes were a little better and a little fancier than your average Caesar salad and French onion soup. What really did it for me was the fries. I did not order the fries but my coworker ordered the fries because she had seen someone else eating them and they were amazing. We tried to ask them where they were getting these fries how they were making them. They were thick cut, but spiraled. Unfortunately I do not have a picture but I would go here for the fries alone.
