Coming from the Southwest border a stone’s throw from Mexico, it has been a serious challenge to find authentic Mexican food in NOVA. El Vaquero West had some of the best food we’ve tried. The chips and salsa were great, and the fajitas, beans, rice, and tortillas were delicious too. I’m getting used to odd vegetables like broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower in the veggie fajitas, which you never would’ve seen in California. Kitschy, warm decor and a cinco de mayo vibe make me wanna’ be here every weekend! Staff is super friendly and warm. The food is plentiful and cheap. $11 for a scallop enchilada smothered in cheese and beans and rice on the side. I’m not a beer girl usually but the Modelo on draft here tastes better and colder and can’t explain it ….may be their huge frosty mugs or the fresh chips and salsa. Buts it is crave worthy on a tgif! My husband and I stopped in for lunch and had a great experience! Service was fast and friendly. They had upbeat music playing and the decor was soo cute! They had a large lunch menu offered EVERYDAY! The chorizo queso dip was some of the best I’ve had! It was decent price good food! We will def be back when we are in the area!
