I used to enjoy dining at Jackee’s, but after my most recent experience, I have decided not to return. My husband and I visited for lunch one Sunday and were seated promptly. While we didn't mind the increased prices, we were surprised to see an 18% gratuity added to our bill, a practice more common in fine dining establishments. Our orders were taken quickly, but we ended up waiting nearly two hours for our meals. To make matters worse, we were served soda in small plastic cups with excessive ice and struggled to get refills. It seemed like the restaurant was prioritizing takeout orders over dine-in customers, as we witnessed others receiving their meals before us, and some guests at another table being served at different times. The food we eventually received wasn't up to its usual standard. Considering the lengthy wait, we expected some form of compensation like a complimentary appetizer or a discount on our meal. Adding an automatic gratuity for such poor service felt unfair, as gratuities should be based on the quality of service received. While we typically enjoy supporting small businesses, the combination of long wait times, subpar service, and an automatic tip for unsatisfactory service means we won't be returning to Jackee’s.

Very disappointing!! A reservation was made to avoid an extended wait as we had a show to attend. We were able to park in front of the establishment. We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival at a small spotty wooden table in front of an electric fireplace. A Server appeared shortly after we had to ask a worker (who identified himself as “Security ”) to clean the table off. Once our order was placed we waited 1 hour for our food, which was subpar at best ( Whitings, Mac& Cheese, Yams, Collards, Cabbage, (which was brown for some reason), and what appeared to be (mashed) Potato Salad. Thank God for the good old school music the DJ played to distract us during the wait. As the Server listened to our compliants we were promised that concessions would be made because of the long delay but of course the Manager never availed herself.We paid our check and vowed never to return!

Customer service is horrible, they don't acknowledge their customers when they walk through the door, let alone greet them. Literally only three people seated inside it took 7 minutes. They advertise for 2 pieces of fish only frozen whiting come in pieces as served which is equivalent to 1 piece of fish, Plus it was salty. Didn't care for the Mac or string beans..but to each they own!Still searching for "Soul Food in VA"

I am so disappointed. We waited an hour and half for food. We sat, ordered 30 minutes before another group and they received their food, sent food back and ordered to go before we did. I had my family come so we could support a black owned but this was the worse. No I’m sorry just we can give you 25% discount and my mother in law was still waiting for her food that came 35 minutes after the rest of ours. My family owned a black owned restaurant in Richmond and this was so disappointing to have this experience. One and done experience for us!
