We gave Mari Sushi Bar and Lounge in Herndon a try for my husband’s birthday, and it is now my favorite sushi spot! Everything was incredible-fresh, flavorful, and filling. Hands down the best dynamite roll I’ve had, and even the fish I usually pass over were so good I kept going back to them. The sauces complemented the fish perfectly, I highly recommend giving them a try.

finally a really really good local sushi restaurant. the appetizers, a good variety to choose from.the Donburi (the salmon version) - the salmon was fresh, tender... melt in your mouth!!!!the Chirashi - the tuna, the salmon, the whitefish... all so very fresh, and tender, and also, melt in your mouth. the tuna was the best of the three. the sushi rice was nicely seasoned, tasty.next time, gonna try the miso ramen or the tonkatsu ramen... or both.

This place is worth the trip from wherever u are. My husband & I live in NJ & visit our grandson in NOVA regularly. Just found Mari & it will be our go to sushi restaurant whenever we visit: quality fish, fresh wasabi, homemade tamago & friendly, attentive service.

There is something fishy about this restaurant (no pun intended), and in particular, a manager named David Kim.I called 3 times within 4 weeks with an intention to make a reservation for a group of 11 people. Each and every time, David Kim the manager answered and told me he would call back in the next couple of days. Each and every time, he never did. Then when I followed up by calling the restaurant, David's excuses were always that he tried to call me back many time, but just got to the voicemail directly. When I pressed him by asking if he left a voice mail, and he always says no. Even when I attempted to give him my email address, he would appear to have trouble with understanding what "at mark" or "dot org" mean, which became his excuse for not communicating by email.Stay away from this place!

The food was okay but the service was awful. I'm not sure if this is a new restaurant or if they were short staffed but certainly did not feel welcomed to eat there. Rather spend my money on at an establishment that was friendly and appreciated my business.

The quality of fish is exceptional--by far the best sushi and sashimi I've had in the DC area. Service was good--helpful without intruding--and the atmosphere made us both relax and enjoy the good meal.

My favorite place!! I have another sushi restaurant much closer to my house but I rather come here! The food is amazing and reminds me of the sushi I had in Japan/Boston. Amazing,fresh, delicious. I’ve had so many of their rolls and they’ve all been so good! Definitely recommend! It’s truly become my biggest craving! And the staff is wonderful and so nice!

We drove a bit far to Mari because of the positive reviews and it did not disappoint! We've been twice now (NYE and this past weekend) and enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly service (chef, waitress, manager and bartender), and fresh, delicious sushi! The fish are fresh, ingredients are high quality, and food is plated beautifully. We tried the Omakase and every dish was amazing! Our favorite were the torched salmon belly that melted in our mouth and Hokkaido uni. The momo more and yuzu sour cocktails were perfect too.
