We had a group of 14 people for a birthday celebration and it could not have been better. All of our guests raved about the food, in particular the beef strogonoff, the filet mignon (best ever), the dumplings, meatballs, duck, quail, and pistachio cheesecake were excellent. The service was impeccable and of course the ambiance was gorgeous. One of our guests mentioned it was the best event he ever attended, which was high praise as he is a connoisseur of fine dining. Russia House is a hidden gem in downtown Herndon and I would highly recommend it.

After living in the northern Virginia area for almost a decade, it was amazing to find another hidden gem for quality fine dining food. The stroganoff was the hit, but the scallops were a close second. Definitely recommended for a romantic night out.

From the moment you walk in, to every attentive moment at the table, The Russian House feels just like being invited over for a home-cooked meal—complete with the caring touch of the hosts. The husband and wife team creates a seamless blend of professional service and genuine warmth. Their wine recommendation was an inspired touch, adding a dash of indulgence to the evening. The menu at The Russian House isn't just a list of dishes; it's a showcase of impeccable craftsmanship. Our meal was a delight from the first slice of warm bread—an affirmation that attention to even the smallest detail completes a dining experience. The main dishes of salmon and mushroom noodles truly captured the essence of flavor, each bite an ode to culinary innovation. The flavors were rich and nuanced, a testament to the chef's art and the kitchen's dedication to excellence. We recently moved to the neighborhood, and are delighted this gem is right across the street. You won't be dissapointed!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Russia House Restaurant in Herndon, Virginia, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. We were pleasantly greeted by the owners of the restaurant upon entry. The ambiance was a warm and cozy atmosphere. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Beef Stroganoff, the rich and creamy mushroom sauce was top notch. Each bite was a savory delight. To complement my meal, I indulged in a dirty martini, the right way, the Russian way with vodka. The balance of vodka, vermouth, and olive brine was spot-on. The staff was attentive and friendly which added to the experience. If you appreciate authentic Russian flavors and impeccable cocktails, this restaurant in Herndon is a must-visit hidden gem.

My wife and I went there for my birthday on a chilly Friday night. Still decorated for Christmas. Very warm homey ambience. We stayed for over 2 hours. It was like having dinner at someone's home. The owners and server were very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were excellent. We had escargot with mushrooms and borscht for starters. Salmon with caviar and duck with cherry sauce for main course. All done perfectly. And some complementary vodka infused with butterscotch after dinner. We will become regulars here.

We had the pleasure of dining at Russia House the other night. The atmosphere was elegant and cozy. The food was delicious- highly recommend the scallops, shrimp, beef stroganoff and the filet. The service was attentive and the staff were very friendly. Everything was amazing and we can't wait to be back!

Pate was like any other I've had. They had run out of all caviars except the basic black caviar. Surprisingly they didn't have any Russian vodkas available.I ordered a Luksusowa vodka martini and the olive juice tasted old and the vodka didn't taste like the one I have at my house (I have been purchasing Luksusowa for many years). When I told the waitress I didn't like it, she simply responded that it was what I ordered. She then told me I wanted something sweet. I actually wanted something authentic to Russia being that this place is called Russia house but at this point, I was not having a good time and didn't want anything to drink. We also had the borscht which I've never had before but is it supposed to taste like a canned soup? It had no depth in flavor and was just basic.I was so so so disappointed. I have been to this restaurant once many years ago (maybe 15?) and loved it. Perhaps my taste has changed... I also have gone to the DC location and they had a huge vodka list (including Russian vodkas) and a caviar sampler which I was really hoping to partake in but couldn't since they only had one type.I definitely will not be visiting again and wouldn't be surprised if this placed ended up closing their doors permanently soon.

I want to extend my gratitude to Ali and Homerya for hosting yet another successful corporate event. The restaurant's welcoming atmosphere, especially with its holiday decorations, adds to the overall experience. The consistently excellent food never fails to impress. Homerya, who also served as our bartender for the night, received numerous compliments for her skill in crafting delightful mixed drinks. While it's disappointing that I won't have the chance to host another party there for a couple of years, I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity once again. Thank you, Ali and Homerya, for making the booking process and menu selection so seamless.

Please read this and do not go here, simply do not go. Do not believe all these reviews that rave about this place. This was simply one of the worst meals of my life. Me and my wife we cook a lot and we have gone to many restaurants around the world and around the USA, from France to Spain to Morocco to Peru and England. But this meal takes the golden medal for the worst of the worst.I went to Russia House around June 2023 with my wife, and my parents in law. We ordered many Russian dishes that my parents in law knew very well from their time in Eastern Europe. Soon enough, once the dishes started to arrive, we were in complete disbelief at how horrible the food on the table was. We thought that it was sort of a joke on us and that they were going to bring the real food later. Well, the joke was on us because we were being charged $30 to $40 per dish for food that looked like it came directly from the freezer to the microwave, tasteless, stale and not fresh at all.The bill was outrageous for such bad food. As we were leaving the place we felt horribly bad for having paid so much for food that was so bad.As a token of evidence of how all these positive reviews are not reflecting the reality of this restaurant, I have walked countless times next to this restaurant, during dinner times and during the weekend, and I have never seen more than one table with people. Actually, most of the time it is empty. When we went for dinner around 6:30pm the restaurant was completely empty, and we were the only people there. If all those positive reviews are actually real, the restaurant would be always full with people. Next to this restaurant, just meters away, there is an italian restaurant that is always full, always. So, there you go for evidence.Drive by the restaurant before you enter, and see how many tables are taken. An empty restaurant is never a good sign....

The food was great, and the menu choices were sufficient. But in my opinion, the prices were too high. Also, the service was at times lacking, like we were waiting for too long for someone to show up again to order dessert and to receive the check.

The food tasted and looked like frozen entrees that were heated up. The service was very slow ( they were understaffed) and staff were a little surly because they were so pressured. Overall, a bad experience that I would not try again.
