Worthless customer service. Nobody could help me find simple syrup. All pointed to the same isle where the product was not located. Even asked where grenadine was as I thought that might be an easier find for them. I waited a few minutes at customer service after asking a 4th employee for help and not getting any. Ended up leaving my items without buying anything.

I'm so annoyed with their bakery. I stopped by around 3pm on Saturday needing a Black Forest cake for a party on Sunday. I stopped by the bakery and asked for a Black Forest cake. They said they didn't have any in stock but that I can order one for Sunday. I specifically asked if it would be ready by Sunday, because if they couldn't do it, no problem, I would look elsewhere. They said no problem, and asked when do you need it. I asked if 10am was ok and they said no problem. So I get a call at 9am on Sunday and it was the catering manager who said they couldn't make the cake today. They said they need at least 24 hours notice. No the ONE thing I'm suppose to bring to a Father's Day party I don't have Thanks Safeway.

The safeway in Herndon VA on Elden Street has an advertisement on the door saying that you will get a grocery card with $75 on it if you take a new prescription in. Well, in extremely unreadable small print it says not if you are on Medicare.Well Medicare everyone over 65 is entitled to and is on it. So why the discrimination against older people? And by printing it in such a small print, it is false advertising. I only shop here because it is convenient. The also sold gift cards that were already spent. I bought 3 50 gift cards that were already spent. I guess I should have read the sign buy at your own risk.

Rude service from the bakery to cashier. Its only Self checkout but she can't step up to assist. Yet she stands there staring as if someone is trying to steal.

At 7:30 pm NO checkout lines open, and nobody at customer service, forcing you to use self checkout whether you like it or not. If it happens again they are off my list.

Extremely rude racist people work here. They treat customers like crap. Stay away! The store never is stocked up, lately it's been very dirty and there is zero customer service.

This review is strictly of the Customer Service desk in relation to receiving a Western Union transfer. I've never had to send or receive a transfer before, but my bank suggested it as a workaround when my electronic transfer of funds between banks was delayed by 72 hours and I had to pay a contractor at my house same day. She initiated two Western Union transfers for $999 each, she sent me the money transfer control numbers (MTCNs), and looked up locations where I could pick it up. She said "Any Safeway grocery store can do it."I arrived at 5:15pm on a Monday. I waited about 4-5 minutes with two wriggly impatient kids as the Customer Service desk sat empty, not a soul around. I rang the little bell to alert someone we needed assistance. A nearby cashier paged a manager. Finally someone came out of the office with the two-way mirrored glass, and I explained what I needed. She looked flustered. Another manager was paged. Clearly not many people have a need for Western Union transfers, or at least not on the receiving end.She explained that they may not have enough money to cash out even one of the transfers, and definitely not two. She counted out the cash she had on hand at the register with the special drawer for large bill deposits. She had just enough for one of the $999 transfers, so I had her complete the transaction. I had to go to not one, not two, but THREE other Safeway stores to have the other transfer processed. The other locations had some local store policy in place that they could only cash a maximum of $500 and then issue a money order for the rest (!?) or they did not have enough cash on hand. It was amazing the lengths I had to go to for two Western Union money transfers. Seriously, don't advertise you're a participating Western Union transfer location if you're only willing to take $ for outgoing transfers and aren't prepared to receive and cash out a transfer. Secondly, there shouldn't be some store policy that precludes someone from receiving a full transfer. The maximum transfer is $999, and you as a participating store should be prepared and willing to honor the full transfer. I understood not having enough on hand for two, because I know Western Union transfers are a bit of a holdout from a bygone era; but be prepared for at least one!And lastly, the line of people who needed Customer Service assistance that queued behind me was 5 people long and I had to wait a good 5 minutes for even one person to show up at the desk. Maybe get some staff to man the counter?

Very clean and efficient grocery store! Better then most of the other grocery stores in the area. My number 1 choice for weekly grocery shopping!!

The leadership has gone downhill again. The former manager Megan used to have more lines available and cared. Now it's back to begging for a cashier. No, I do not want to do self checkout with 45 items. The cashiers are all nice, which is why I'm giving this Safeway two stars, but when I get in the only available line and have to let everyone in front or me or receive dirty looks because there are NO OTHER LINES, it ruins everyone's day. Shopping shouldn't be stressful. Don't bother with Safeway. Go to Giant, Trader Joe's, Harris Teeter, or somewhere where they care about the customer.
