With an amazing salad bar, this place has been my favorite place in town for a steak. Sadly, this Saturday will be their final day of operation. They will be missed not only by myself, but by a countless number of area residents.Hoping we'll be able to get a table for one last hurrah.

Sorry to see them go

A Lynchburg staple. Delicious food; professional and friendly service. Lovely environment. Have frequented for many years and will continue to do so.

Elegant restaurant perfect for celebrating special occasions like graduations, birthdays, promotions ...A classy joint where the service is always professional, the food delicious and the ambience soothing. Somehow a five-star rating doesn't seem to be enough.

The service staff was excellent from the time we entered the door to the bus boy to the waiter. The food was a disappointment. My busband ordered a med prime rib. It ws deliveres to the table RED. I ordered the crab stuff flounder. It arrived to the table cold. The stuffing was so mushy I couldn't tell if there was crab in it. I have had excellent crab stuff flounder many times. This was not close. This was our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. Not with the money.

If you have been a long time customer you can see it slipping. My wife and I have been going for years. Still a good restaurant and great steak though. I even got a car wash discount card with my dinner. First time for everything. I guess you had to be there.

It's was O.K? Not what I expected. Very old school. You get a spiced apple slice with your entree☺

We have been eating at the Crown Sterling since the 80''s. My wife and I became engaged at the Crown, and we were celebrating our anniversary with close friends with our most recent visit. However, the last three times we have gone to the Crown, the food has been of lower quality, the service was very slow, and they were out of many things we requested. Our most recent experience was the worst. The salad bar has, for good reason, historically been a high point at the crown. They have always had fresh ingredients arranged in a very accessible attractive way and the salad bar had some of the best dressings, including the blue cheese dressing, which had lots of chunks of blue cheese. That is no longer the case. The blue cheese dressing is now this soupy, sour tasting substitute for good dressing. Other things have also changed. For example, the peas used to be bright salad peas that went well with salads. Instead, they had what looked like canned baby peas poured into a bowl, mushy and unappealing. I should also add that many of the serving bowls at the salad bar were empty or almost empty. Between being out of many items and substituting such cheap items for what used to be good food, the salad bar is now worse than those found at most other restaurants. After being there about 25 to 30 minutes, they took our order. Three of our party requested sweet potatoes with our steak but they were out of that side item For our last three consecutive visits they were out of sweet potatoes by 7:30. Why put it on the menu if you will only provide it to early birds? We come to the steaks. One of our party ordered the 5 oz petite filet. When it came it was very small (about 2 x 2.5 inches) and not very thick such that it was hard to believe that it was similar to the prior petite filets this guest had ordered on prior occasions. I ordered a New York strip medium rare. The steak was done correctly. However, I pointed out to the waiter that they had given me a ribeye instead. He agreed that it looked like a ribeye and that it was exactly like the steak another member of our party was eating who had ordered a ribeye with the Host's Choice dinner. I asked the waiter to please take it back and have the chef make a New York strip. He returned and said the waiter was asserting that thesteak was a New York strip and not a ribeye even though it was, by all appearances, the same steak as my friend was eating. At this point, the lack of service, the poor salad bar, and now the problems of the steak were getting to me, and I simply said I would not eat dinner. The waiter said the chef could cook a new New York strip and I agreed. However, the waiter came back a few minutes later and said they were out of New York strip!! (Really?) I said I would not eat and then the waiter suggested they could provide an 8 oz filet at no additional cost. I agreed and in about 15 minutes they brought out a great filet. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. To be fair, they offered to comp me on the steak, but I declined. I then asked for A-1 and the waiter brought out a small metal cup with about 1 oz of A-1 and said that was the last of the A-1 in the restaurant! At some point it became so bad that it became humorous. Luckily, we had good company and enjoyed the conversation. We closed out the restaurant at 9 with only one other patron on the premises. The waiter was very apologetic and, to be fair, was also waiting on a large table of 8 or ten people next to us. What I find most disturbing is the purposeful reduction in the quality of ingredients, and the poor planning so as to not be able to consistently provide what is on the menu while it is still early evening. This is all on the owner and management. (Perhaps it is the result of the financial hit taken from Covid?) There are not many good steak houses in Lynchburg so we will probably occasionally go back. But certainly not as much and with much lower expectations. And, if I go, I will only order the filet.

We had a wonderful experience for our first time eating at The Crown Sterling. Our waitress went above and beyond to make our lunch experience perfect. The teriyaki burger and Mac and cheese was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant!

My boyfriend and I ordered NY strip and when we got it. Out steaks were so thin. We believe the length wise had cut in half. It wasn't 1/2 inces thick, no way near it.Our steaks were 25.00 each. We felt we were cheated. We came there because we were told The Crown Steak House are known for their great steaks. WELL!!!! no more. I wanted to speak to the manager that night but we were there to celebrate my boyfriend's 70th birthday. And there were almost a full house. So I called him the next day. He said I should have said something, as I explained why. I will be talking to others about our experience.

This is a special place and will always be for us. This was where my fiancé and I went for our engagement dinner. We both got a glass of champagne to celebrate. We each got an entree that came with a salad. It was a great meal. We also splurged and got a slice of cheesecake to finish it off. The prices were on the higher end, but it's a classy place so that's understandable. The staff was friendly and on top of everything. They even let us stay when they were cleaning up. I'd love to return for anniversaries in the future.
