The quality of food, service, and specials has gone down over the past 2 years. Most recently, our sushi take out orders have been missing wasabi and ginger. When I call to question, they insist it was in the bag. Then after offering a free sushi dish on our next visit, they say it is not in the system when we return. We used to eat here regularly, but we are looking for other options at this point.

This place for some reason closes in the middle of the day and opens again at 430.Food was excellent but they really need to bring back the brunch special they had before covid. That is what put them on the map. Hopefully sooner rather then later.

We really like this place. The parking fills up quickly though.
This is quite possibly the best Chinese restaurant in the Richmond area, if not all of central Virginia. Try the sesame or General Tso's chicken. Excellent decor, great service and a bar that serves terrific cocktails. Best of all, the prices honestly can't be beat. I live in downtown Richmond and do my grocery shopping in Mechanicsville just so I can have lunch here.
Always a great experience with great food regardless if it's take out or eat in.Parking: Get there early or be prepared to drive around. Other business' in the same lot.

For context - I grew up in New England which is where American-Chinese food was created by the legendary chef Joyce Chen in the 1950’s. It is still the best in the country. For example “Chicken Fingers” which are large tempura style chicken tenders are found at every Chinese restaurant in the Boston area. “Peking Raviolis” are similar to a potsticker or dumpling but with much more flavor and are larger. It was the hope of finding something that would be acceptable in the Richmond area that led me to Ginger Red.The food was just okay. It is certainly the best in the Richmond area, but it could be way better. The wontons were disintegrated in my soup which was disappointing. One dish had an ingredient that was not listed in the description. Will we go back? Probably.I wish I could send the owner to China Imperial in Leominster or Chinatown in Canton to see how much more elevated the experience could be.

This place did not disappoint. Everything I tried today was very delicious. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly. This place will definitely be in my restaurant rotation. We ordered sushi (kobe, Philly, and spicy Philly roll) Singapore veggie noodles, honey chicken, smoke salmon crisp.
