Don't waste your time & money. The food was subpar IMO. The sides were not warm and the meat was so so. The only thing I enjoyed was the salad bar & grilled pineapple. The drinks looks pretty but was watered down alot.

I know my plate has everything touching. But as grandma always said, "It all goes down same pipe," this was from the buffet. I wanted to try a bit of everything.

We were in town for one day. We used google maps to find a place to eat. We selected another restaurant but once we arrived we selected TBG. GREAT choice. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait but it took only 15 minutes. The service was great. The food was excellent. I over ate.

So, I wrote this review a month ago, but it never got posted, even though there was 13 views. Clearly Tucanos or whoever blocked my review and censored me. I even emailed [email protected], as I noticed this to be the replies on here, but I was kept on read and no reply to my comments. Take 2: My family and I been going to Tucanos for years now, and multiple times throughout the years. We've even recommended them to friends and other family. Although we're from Va Beach, we take the drive up for dinner sometimes. We've never had a problem, until last week when my family and I went. Last week they were running a special for $23, which the waitress told us was $20.23 as a new year special. The misinformation is our first complaint. After dinner, I signed the bill, and I thought everything was fine, as I didn't feel Tucanos would rip us off. They'd treated us well for years. It wasn't until a few days ago when my sister checked the bank statement and realized that the price was more than what she anticipated it would be. We lost the printed receipt and we based our calculations on $20.23, not $23. So, I called Tucanos to clarify and she texted me the receipt. I realized that they tip on the entire bill, including tax, not on the subtotal. When I explained this to the manager on the phone, she gets mad and tells me that I could've clicked on "custom tip" and choose how much to tip, and it was my fault for not seeing that option and for trusting their preselected percentages to be accurate. Even after doing the math of 20% of the total bill (subtotal+tax), the tip was even $5 more. So, all the years we've been going, we've been tipping more than we should be, $10-30 per visit, as we normally reserve between 6-10 people per visit. I'd advise patrons to check the tip options on Tucanos credit card machines and to make sure you get clarification on the discounting pricing specials. I guess we'll be looking for a new restaurant to go to for our family gatherings, as Tucanos has let us down. In addition, my sister and mother's birthday month is January and we were at Tucanos to celebrate, plus my sister was heading back to school out of state, and when we thought it was $20.23, it was a good deal as we would've saved $68 on our meal. However, with it being $23, we only saved $48.65. Had they used their free birthday dinners, as we planned, we would've saved $60. The "New Years promo" cost us more money then what we were going to spend.

Brought our office crew here for a Christmas party- 12 of us total w a reservation. Food was over salted, fatty, and tiny portions of everything served (like we got a sample of two bites per item!). Service was so slow, so waiting to actually get our two bites of each item took an excruciating long time that by the time she made the first round- we were over it and didn't even bother with more! The meats were either well done or rare. Even pink on the pork loin. Other server would come take one persons drink order or a few people's desserts order and then leave, thinking no one else wanted anything and not bothering to ask- we had to run her down for things multiple times. The meat cutter spilled sticky fish juice from a serving platter all over me, and then later in the evening actually cut me with the cutting knife while slicing off meat! I didn't even show her my bleeding knuckles- at that point we were done, felt sorry for her and was embarrassed for bringing our party there. I don't think she normally was the meat cutter- she seemed out of place and couldn't hold the board still.. Man, as this place gone down hill! Oh yeah, and the buffet was out of items, didn't seem like anyone was replacing them, we had to make many trips as we were so hungry from last of actual meats we paid $30 a pop for in the first place! Will not be returning-

To me, the best thing about this place is the salad bar. The place was clean and the salad bar was well-stocked and varied, but service was glacially slow. Also, I found the meat selections limited and often very fatty. When I arrived, there was no host anywhere to be seen. I found someone in my party already seated so I seated myself. I was also unimpressed that no manager seemed to be around or visiting tables. The server came and took the drink order and drinks arrived quickly. From there service went downhill. I was disappointed in the meat selections which is really the big draw to the place. That surprised me. Bottom line, I doubt seriously if I would go back.

Food and service were both just okay :/ Used this as a going away luncheon for my son who loves steak & he enjoyed it.

food is good, however they do not come often, you can see those servees just hangin around in the grill area while those who are seated in the enclosed section gets all the meat they want. servers also chose their way of offering meat to costumers

Disappointing! The presentation in the salad bar was terrible, the trays and serving utensils were dirty and the hot food was dry and scarce. The skewers took forever to make its round and the meat was cold, stiff and again, scarce. We had to constantly request meat to come to us and still, only had them come like 3 times. The silverware was also dirty and we had to request new sets. I will not be visiting again, definitely not worth the money.

This place used to be our go to restaurant. It has fallen waaaaayyy off. Every piece of meat was horrible! My moscato tasted like cardboard. Half the food on the salad bar was missing. Every piece of meat that was bacon wrapped was a soggy mess. Nothing was cooked well. Service was extremely slow and servers looked sooooo tired. I would not recommend this place to anyone anymore.

The service was extremely slow. The meat wasn't as tender or cooked well enough. The tilapia would have been good if it wasn't so cold. The meat portions are extremely small. You have to literally ask the server for more than 2 piece of meat. It makes you feel like your been greedy. The meat are cut really small. Their are only three items that was really good: mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes and creme brulee. Sorry no pictures of the mixed vegetables or mashed potatoes. I will definitely not be returning to this place.

After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant to dine here but we went ahead and decided to try it. It’s a nice area and nice atmosphere. The service started a little slow being helped but picked up quickly. The salad bar was good with many choices. The crab bisque was excellent. We tried about every meat they had and all were very good. At the end we tried the fried fish with mango sauce, if I had eaten that earlier I could of made a meal out of just it, it was outstanding. All the servers were polite and personable. The restaurant was extremely clean with nice decor. We will definitely return again.

I frequent Tucanos at least once a month. I always enjoy the massive salad bar and always look forward to fixing my craving for picanha. The price point is way better than Texas de Brazil but still has superior quality. Reservations are preferred but never had an issue with being accommodated as a walk in. Perfect for special occasions for there's a private event room if you do have one to celebrate.

My husband and I were entertaining out of town family members so we thought this would be a nice treat. We were wrong. Although it was a slow Monday night , service, and food quality was embarrassing! I had to get up and ask someone to bring meat to our table . Sushi rolls were not fresh . Meat was fatty ! We ordered a brownie for dessert and the bottom was burnt . This is one of the worst, if not the worst, dining experiences of my life .

The space is tastefully decorated and the servers were friendly. Unfortunately that's where the good stuff ends. Some of the food on the buffet was good, except the hot stuff and the sushi (crab) rolls. They stored all the serving utensils inside the hot pans so they were super hot, like almost burned by the soup ladle hot. In addition they had all the hot foods, way too hot. The sushi rolls were also dry and shriveled. What kills this review was the meats. The chicken and pork were so dry they were completely inedible. The only really good items were the tenderloin and the pineapple. The rest, not so much. The service was good, but they were a little in the weeds with only a fraction of the tables seated.
