The food is absolutely AMAZING. I would definitely recommend to anyone to give this place a try. I've lived in the area my whole life and are just now giving this place a try and I'm mad I didn't years ago. Don't let the one off bad experiences some people might have had stop you from having an amazing meal.

This restaurant has not been good for several years now, but tonight the food and service was excellent. I ordered the special, which was a pesto dish with sundried tomatoes and it was excellent. The menu states to give them time because all of there sauces are made to order which seems odd since a Bolognese takes several hours and a pesto takes minutes, but never the less, even though it took forty minutes for my pesto pasta, it was well worth the wait.

This charming Italian restaurant is well worth the trip to Newport News. I would highly recommend trying the Vitello Alla Parmigiana or Saltimbocca Alla Romana if you like Veal.

Ever since this restaurant changed owners, the quality has gone down. The food was okay and the portions are large for the price. But, the restaurant felt grungy and the waitstaff left much to be desired. Last night, one of the waitresses was standing in the kitchen doorway, where the drinks are located, picking wax from her ear with an ear wax tool (I guess) and wiping it on a paper towel, she proceeded to wait tables without washing her hands after. I couldn’t eat the rest of my food after watching that. If the waitstaff is okay doing that in a semi-visible part of the restaurant it made me wonder what the back kitchen looks like.

I decided to write a review to prevent anyone from having the same experience I did. I went here on valentines day, to start off we could not even enter the restaurant because they have a hallway sized waiting area for 10+ guests waiting. Then we find out they lost one of their reservation books even though we reserved 4 days earlier. The very very rude "server" if you can even call her that, completely ignored me and the person i was with even though we had been waiting there for 45 mins. Our reservation was for 6:30 and it was 7:15. We left without eating after the rude server/"host" told us she would seat another couple who got there five mins ago and that we would have to continue waiting. Don't waste your time here. Im 100% sure if I was white the we would have gotten served like all the other couples who were.

The house salad and the garlic knots are the best things about this place. Absolutely delicious! I came after church with a group of about a dozen people. We had a reservation so they were set up for us. Other than a couple of other tables, we had the place to ourselves. Service was slow but we were ok talking while we waited. Unfortunately, our dirty salad dishes sat on the tables and it was difficult to get the entrees on the table because of it. One of our party didn't receive her meal until after everyone else had almost finished eating. Apparently it was left off the order. The server should have caught that had she come back to check on the meal, but she didn't. Once that was taken care of though, that item really should not have been charged on the tab. I ordered a pasta dish with scallops and shrimp. It came with 2 scallops, 5 shrimp and 1 shrimp tail. The seafood was overcooked so it was tough, and all I could taste was some sort of vinegar (balsamic?). I shared a limoncello dessert which really tasted like nothing more than lemon sorbet. The meal dishes were also left on the table for far too long. I have been a server and know what a hard and dirty job it is, but making sure diners have a good experience is part of the job and good service gets rewarded with good tips. The service here was below adequate. Other than the salad and garlic knots, I was disappointed overall. I might go back sometime and try something else from the menu but it will be a while before I do. I need time to get over the disappointment.

On January 19th a large group of family and friends went to Tuscany in Newport News to celebrate the life of my wife following her funeral that afternoon. The food was excellent, the service was OK. There was only one server for 27 people and she was struggling to keep up. This was surprising since the restaurant was only 25% occupied. I had paid a $100.00 deposit a week prior to reserve the room. When the bill came of nearly $1000.00 and I asked the server why the $100.00 deposit hadn’t been subtracted from the bill. She left to get the manager. A few minutes later the manager arrived. Now anyone who knew anything about customer service would have taken me aside and explained that the $100.00 was actually a fee to reserved the room. However, that isn’t how business is conducted at the Tuscany restaurant. Instead, she in a loud voice yells “I told you when you booked it the $100.00 is a fee to reserve the room.” Its been a long time since I was treated like of 5 year old by a business that claims to be “customer oriented.” Considering I had just finished burying my wife I chose to not stoop to her level. I merely paid the bill and I was tempted to deduct the $100.00 from the tip but I didn’t want to punish the poor server. I won’t be returning to Tuscany nor would I recommend anyone else use the restaurant until it has a change in management.

Went here to eat. The restaurant was empty, several clean tables available, yet the hostess would not seat us for at least 15 minutes because she felt it was more important that she bus ask of the dirty tables than it was to take care of paying customers.

Wonderful food and service. The bruschetta was delicious and great value for its worth and the main courses were right up there with great Italian restaurants.
