One of the best Soulfood Restaurants I've experienced in a good while! I ordered the Turkey Wings with collards and stuffing as sides. The cornbread is a must have, I don't care what dish you decide to try! My wife had the Fried Catfish, with Yams and Cabbage as the sides. 2 of my 3 children ordered the BarBQ Rib plate with Mac n Cheese and Mashed Potatoes as their sides. My last child got the Fried Cicken plate, with Rice & Gravy and Green Beans as his sides. Mind you, we live in Elizabeth City, NC and the restaurant is in Virginia about 45 mins to a hour away (depending on traffic), but that ride home was a quiet one, with lots of blowing after.... Needless to say, it was better than good! And Yes we are going back, as soon as we can!@!

Mad I spent 50 buck fish shrimps crab cake no flavor chicken taste like burning grease I've order 2 x ND each time I was disappointed. Waited a hour to have to waste food, ND money it was better when they first opened I'm done I won't be back

I've been waiting for months to try this food and finally got a day off called my order in and Rhonda took my order she was amazing!! My order was $83 I got there an hour later after waiting for 30 minutes I was told to go to the back and ask for Amber once I told Amber I had a call in order she told me my order wasn't there then she looked and said it was right before Rhonda quit? Amber then proceeds to go outside and smoke a cigarette instead of getting my food which I don't understand the problem with businesses is they have a good product but the customer service and staff that is hired will make a business look bad!! I gave one star just so I can leave a written review because I really wanted this food.I pray that the staff gets it together because it looks like the food was amazing needless to say I never got my food.

I love this place, and I love the new location. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you pass up Amayes n-Soulfood. There is nothing not to like about this restaurant. The ambience is lovely. It was so relaxing there. I loved it. The food was excellent and none of us had any complaints, only praises. The food portions were more than ample. We had so much that we took food home to eat later. On top of everything else we went in a Sunday and it was not a dine-in day, but we asked if they could just allow us this once to eat-in and they allowed it, with the understanding that this was a one time exception. We watched the play offs on the big screen and ate, sitting off in the corner. Lol we ladies had a wonderful time on a long Sunday afternoon. "Good food, good friends, and a lovely restaurant".

Poor customer service. They NEVER answer the phone and the ONE TIME they answer, the young lady on the phone displays a poor tone, then gets our order wrong. We don't find out until we get there that she messed it up costing us nearly 40 dollars for two plates of food. Could have cooked it myself for that price. That said the food was excellent tasting but the wings were hella small. Make sure you check your order before paying, something I tell mine all the time.

Service was not the best, seem like they did not want to service us and food was a waste. Green beans was super salty, rice was hard and not cooked had to microwave to finish cooking, pork chop was dry and turkey wings was not tender. The sweet potatoe jack dessert was fried and the batter was greasy. Will not return.

I utilized this establishment to cater my fathers repast. The service I received from the day I contacted them until the day they delivered and setup the food was perfect. All we had to do was show up and they provided everything for us. Everything they cooked from the meal to the desserts was perfect. I have no clue who the young lady is that helped me with my catering order but I want to personally thank her for such great service and I we will be using your establishment again.

Young lady at the front was HORRIBLE!!! Light skinned cashier by the name of Amber. Her attitude was AWFUL. She was very impatient with customers and acted as if everyone was being a nuisance to her. She made the ordering experience horrible. I want to support black businesses but when you have people like this who treat black customers badly. It’s not a good look. I like the food but please work on the customer service!!

Got the turkey wings and it looked good but unfortunately they were salty. Second time I ate there trying to give them a chance but it’s just not for me.

On 10/21 ordered turkey wings and whiting fish dinner with two sides and sweet potato jacks. The sides with both orders were good but the wings wasn't good like old or bad. The fish was like rubber and had to throw it away. Jacks have to be put in oven to firm up. Filling too loose. Not worth the cost or time.

There was nothing amazing about this place. I should have known it was going to be a problem when I seen a sign that said no refunds. I go in and the whole duct system was exposed with no ceiling. But I’m trying to get black own businesses a try. I get the BBQ ribs with Mac and cheese and yams with a roll. The ribs was bland with a lot of sauce on it to cover how bad it was seasoned. For real it seems as if they didn’t put nothing on them ribs but the sauce. The yams taste exactly as if they boiled them, removed the skin and poured a sweet sauce on them. Yams wasn’t cut or anything. The Mac and cheese taste as if no salt was in it at all, after I added my OWN salt it wasn’t so bad. The roll look like it had been mashed up like where did the fluffy go on this one. I could have made better food than this at home. I do not recommend this place at all unless you homeless and will take whatever you can get. Worst soul food experience ever
