I live in Okinawa, Japan and travel to the Philippines a couple times per year. I have fallen in love with Filipino food, so much so that I look for it when I travel to other countries and back to the United States. I have been craving Pandesal and was happy to see the Manila Bread House in Norfolk, VA. While they were already sold out of the other menu items I was able to get a bag of pandesal hot out of the oven. I had a roll out of the bag before I even got back to my car. Sooo good!!! As an aside, if ypu are looking for lumpia they sell it by the bag, pre-rolled and cooled (not frozen). I'll be back during the week for lunch.

The best lumpia! Got chicken and beef. Fabulous and friendly. Got it to go and fast too. They also sell it frozen, which is my next objective. Pricing was great. Now on my 'must have' list. Try them out, you'll be

I just went there yesterday. O.m.g!! I got some rolls that had purple yam in it and my sister got the ones that had coconut in it. It was amazing!!!! The texture bwas like super soft and doughy bread but it tastes like a donut! Oh! I am ashamed to say I ate 3?. It was so cool to see dessert from another culture. I am going back this week to wee what else I can get! They sell hot food too!! You really need to go!

This place is a childhood favorite of mine, and I can't have any other pandesal (even after moving away). The owner Joe and his family are very kind and have become family friends. If you want to get pandesal (esp if you're ordering more than a dozen) we recommend calling to order a day or 2 ahead so they can bake them fresh for you! All my out of town relatives (including myself) always drive back with boxes of their pandesal bc their local pandesal bakeries just don't hit the same It's also a great spot for Filipino snacks - the older reviews about empty shelves are from the pandemic back when items from the Philippines were harder to stock due to COVID shortages

Very small store with Filipino foods. Pricey items with limited choices. A couple freezers were empty. Hardly any bread. Maybe two choices. My mom and I were thrown off cause we were expecting it to be a "bread" store with a ton of options but it was the complete opposite. The guy at the counter did tell my mom that they have more bread on Saturday's. Just disappointing they don't do it everyday.

This place seriously has the best lumpia! Manila Bread House is my go-to place for ready-made ones, and it's always a good fix for lumpia cravings. ?

They make the best Ube bread! My son loves it! I’m glad I discovered this place. I will definitely be coming back for more.

BEST pandesal in the 757, if not the entire east coast! I'm Filipino and my family has been loyally going to Manila Bread House ever since it opened in the 80s with the original owners. Whenever I have relatives coming into town - from New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Florida, Texas - they always bring home boxes of pandesal because it's better than the Filipino bakeries in their areas (even if there is a large filipino community there). I have since moved away from Norfolk, but every time I visit, I stock up and bring back dozens of pandesal because no other recipes compare. Joe and his family currently run the shop and they treat you like family. They even made my sister's wedding cake! Please support this wonderful Asian small business!

Glory days have come and gone from this establishment. Its more of a mini grocery store with empty shelves. I was hoping to get some fresh bread since its a bakery. Best to get your bread at Wegmans. What they do have is fresh deep fried fish!!! Deep fried pampano or tilapia is available!!! Never expected that from a bakery:-)))) Summary, once was a bakery that turned into a mini grocery with un-stocked shelves but sells deep fries fish.

i wish i could give - stari usually don't do this type of thing and i'm sure they have good food. however I've never had the pleasure of trying it for my self. i made arrangements to pick up Pancit and Lumpia to celebrate my sons 30th birthday. i placed the order with the owner very nice man on the phone and gave me a awesome deal. i was all ready to go to. i received a text from them saying " store was closed since Thursday for health issue and will stay closed until Monday." i understand things happen they do all the time. it's unacceptable and most unprofessional to text a potential customer 8:35 pm hours before i was scheduled to pick it up. if the store was closed on Thursday there was ample time to at least call before Friday night and it should have not been sent via Text.. Luckily i found another place to get the same items.

I wanted some good lumpia and Pancit and decided to give this place a call. The man was very friendly and asked what time did I want it. When I got there he was finishing up my food. it's a cute little Filipino convenient store but it had a funny smell to it. He had a frozen lumpia in the freezer at very inexpensive price. I'm happy I didnt let the smell run me out because the food was AMAZING!!!! I'll definitely go back!!!
