Have been to the Mermaid Winery several times but mostly for lunch. The atmosphere is lovely. Our server was Ethan. He was delightful and very attentive. I had a Caesar salad with salmon and it was very good. My friend ordered the Brussels sprouts. They were very large and hard to cut but the taste was excellent. I would recommend it.

Wonderful experience for our first time at Mermaid Winery. It was date night and it didn't disappoint. Our table was ready and waiting for us even though we arrived late. I phoned to let them know and they assured it would be okay, and it was. The space is great. Love the architecture and the giant mermaid painting. I also appreciate the size of the dining room, not huge and not tiny. The staff were very gracious and welcoming and very attentive, but not intrusive. The wine was great. I'm no connoisseur, but both my lovely partner and I enjoyed our selections. Our meals were delicious. The menu selections were great. Lots of creative dishes, but nothing extreme. I could feel adventurous in my choices without worrying about what I would get. I had the Blackened Tuna and my lovely partner had the Pork Loin. We were both happy with our choices. Delicious meals prepared perfectly and presented attractively. We look forward to a return visit to sample more of the menu, including dessert, which we skipped to get to the theater on time.

Not quite as nice as normal. Server was not very attentive . We sat for 10 min before anyone came to the table. 4 people behind the bar chatting. Jen wasn't around last night. Came for our favorite Tuna nachos. A little lacking on the tuna. Brussels sprouts were salty This is one of our favorite places. We will be back but not thrilled this time .

I originally came with a friend for her birthday and loved it! I came back recently for my birthday with my boyfriend and it was so romantic along with the ambiance. The food was great! The calamari is top tier!

There is a parking garage just around the corner, very convenient. When I walked in I was impressed with the decor of the space. Immediately I was greeted and shown my table. My friends were there, all talking about how lovely the restaurant was decorated. Three ordered wine from the drink menu. There are other options for beer or cocktails. On this day tea (ice or hot) was not available. Several just stayed with water which was available in large blue bottles on the table after you finished water already served by waitress. We ordered our lunches, expecting rather lite fare. We were all wowed by the huge servings, yet only one person took half her sandwich home. It was so delicious everyone consumed their lunches happily. Only problem, no one had room for dessert!! We all said we would be back, maybe for Happy Hour.

So glad that the Mermaid opened in my neighborhood. It's a great place to have so close. It's lovely and light inside, the staff members are personable and on top of everything and the wine and food are the icing on the cake.

My daughters and I visited Mermaid Winery as part of our pre cruise celebration. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The server was courteous and professional. The food and wines were delicious; some of the best fried brussel sprouts I've ever eaten. We each tried a wine flight, and every one was impressed. This was our first time dining there but won't be our last.

Very mixed. Service turned out to be awful. We waited over an hour to get our food (this in a restaurant that says they'll only allow you to stay for one and a half hours). The manager was pretty unapologetic.. Saying that duck took a long time to cook.. BS, it takes 10 minutes. Then, they screwed up my wife's order, through a communication mixup. Manager was apologetic and comped her dinner, which was nice, and appropriate. Good was good not great. Wine was excellent. They may have been having an off night....

Disappointing. Arrived a bit early for our reservation but we were seated promptly. The restaurant is small and brightly lit without much ambiance. Our waiter was prompt but food service was slow ... no big deal as we had planned on enjoying a bottle of wine. However after a 30min wait for our wine, the waiter informed us that he could not find our selected bottle. We asked to review the wine menu and selected an alternative. After another 15min wait we were informed that that bottle also could not be found. At this point we were two thirds of our way through dinner and did not select a third choice. We finished dinner and departed without having wine. What a disappointment for what is billed as a wine restaurant. Hope Mermaid Winery figures out their wine selection.

Xander took good care of us, ensuring correct communication. Wine and food was pricey. The menu was innovative and food tasted delicious. This location is brighter and a little life than the previous Norfolk location.

My wife and went to Mermaid for date night and as always they didn't disappoint. The service was on point and knowledgeable about the menu and the different wines. The decor was awesome, alittle small compared to the old location in Ghent but very impressive none the less. Then the food was full of flavor from the Hummus with garlic and parm to the salmon stack and even the wild bore burger was great. The wine always great! Only down I had was desert. I love a chocolate and I have a pic in my head what it would should be. The cake that was presented was good in taste but not what I expected in a chocolate cake. Over all 9 out of 10 for me. We will be going back alot and hope you will give them a try. Make sure you set a reservation because they stay busy since they moved!

Lights could be dimmed. Decorated nicely but harsh lighting has everyone looking at each other as the tables are very close to each other and it is basically a square room with a bar on one side. I thought the cocktails were just ok. Very loud. It was nice to see the new location ambiance, but we all felt the shore drive location was better overall.

The food was bland , but I went there for my boyfriend's birthday and our waitress although she was gracious and attentive, she asked him Birthday dessert when I requested for the birthday dessert with a candle be brought up at the end of our meal. So she messed up the surprise and he said he didn't want dessert.

Not the same as the original Norfolk location. Doesn't feel like a winery, feels like a loud chain restaurant with the appearance of a pediatrician office. It's loud and bright white and baby blue. The warm welcome and conversation with staff about pairings is lost and the intimate feeling is gone. The owner stands guard over everything and has zero personality. The only "winery" thing about it is a few cheesy wine photos and a huge child-like mural of a mermaid holding a wine bottle.

My girlfriends & I ate there for brunch.. we really enjoyed our experience! The hibiscus ? mimosas were amazing ?? love the new location. We will definitely be dining there again??
