I have nothing negative to say about this place! First let me start the customer service, Reece is absolutely PHENOMENAL! He’s a true gem and made this experience more pleasurable than I was expecting. Not only was he knowledgeable about the menu, you could feel his passion! He is a valuable asset to your company as outstanding customer service and paying attention to customers and details are rare in this day and age. None of his suggestions disappointed us. We had the Gnocchi with Chicken, Mushroom Risotto and the Carne E Fughi pizza and finished with the crème brûlée! I loved the ambience. I highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again when I’m back in the area!

Reese our waiter was wonderful! our dinners were very nice. I only have 2 comments about the food. The fried ravioli appetizer was overcook. I loved the plating on the bread and the choice of butter or olive oil but the bread was too dense and over cooked.Chicken parm very good and carbonara as well. Was hoping for a fantastic cannoli but none on the menu! The restaurant is beautiful inside.

March 15th I had dinner at this resturant. Ive dined at this hotel before in a different resturant and had a great experience. At this resturant, service was good and atmosphere was very nice. However food was not of the caliber one would expect from an expensive Italian resturant and I got very sick with food poisoning symptoms a few hours after this meal. I ordered the Foraged Mushroom Aranchini, Burrata Caprese salad and finished off with Creme Brule. I had nothing else that evening after this meal and remained with food poisoning symptons 3 days. Because of this experience, I cannot eat at or reccomend this resturant again.

One of fashionable restaurant in Norfolk. I love it!
We had a waiter named Dareece and he was great! We liked that he proactively made sure foods fit our dietary needs and he had a pleasant personality. He checked in on us at the right moments and didn't feel neglected by him or overwhelmed at any point. My husband and I are foodies and plant based. So we take our food somewhat seriously when it comes to taste and quality lol. We take note of the places that are worth returning and this was definitely it! The place is perfect for a romantic dinner or share a special meal with a group. The ambience is spectacular and it gives you the perfect vibe when you want to dress up a little. The food was also delicious. We got the mushroom risotto (vegan) and spaghetti pomodoro with added veggies and it was so worth it. I also appreciated that when it came to mocktails the bartender was willing to just whip up something for me to try and it was also very good. I think the flavor was blood orange. Varia is now on the top of our list for when we are looking for a place to have a fancy date night with quality service and food. We will be coming back.

great opportunity to get gussied up with our college age children and enjoy some family time. Our server, Reese, was outstanding and attentive even on a busy weekend night. We enjoy the live piano and everyone found an entree that suited their taste. This was our second visit and we will be back.

Varia offers fine Italian food as well as more casual fare like wood fired pizzas. Diners can enjoy a table for dinner, sit at a well lit bar, or grab one of a few tables in the lounge area. My husband is celiac so was pleased with the GF pasta and GF options among the mains. Our server Grant was gracious, accommodating and knowledgeable about the GF offerings. We are not big eaters so shared a plate of pasta with beef short rib to start. It was very flavorful with chunks of beef rather than shredded into ragu. The little bit of ricotta nestled in the pasta was perfect to create a creamy sauce. Although the use of elbow GF pasta was not very visually pleasing and a bit odd, the taste was good. We then shared the 24 hour pork chop which was infused with an amazing marinade with a hint of pepped eau. Grant suggested it over Steak Frittes, which one can get at many places. Good call! For ease of sharing, we were glad it was not a bone in chop. It was plenty for two but big eaters would probably want it all for themselves. The wine list bottles and prices overall are reasonable for a downtown restaurant. I do wish that the plates were warmed because food on a cold plate loses heat quickly, but that is a small matter when the food is so good. We recommend Varia highly.

Very loud. Unable to talk. Terrific server! Arancini was missing basil pesto and smoked mozzarella. Cioppino did not have saffron risotto rather just rice. It looked like others ordered the pizza and my dining companion did and they were very happy. So I will give them another try if they get rid of the extremely loud music!
